What are you doing for Valentines?

decorating my proper lad's room, putting red throw overs over my beer chair, bed, sofa, putting a red sheet down as a carpet, red curtains, put loads of red/pink baloons up and got aload of red shiney and pink shiney wrapping paper and made makeshift wallpapers (hiding the posters of nice ladys ;)), heart shape things hanging from roof, and got a 2 people table and 2 chairs which i borrowed off a neighbour and put a red cloth over it, got a rose on the middle of it, and gerrin sum good old FISH AND CHIPS.

simple but effective and cheap :D

oh and got a big teddy and a card and chcolate and wine. then going to watch a dvd on the sofa bed which folds into a kingsize double.

doubt much watching of the dvd will be done tho cause her mind is worse than mine :p
 
Gone abit mad with Valentines this year... probably cos it's the first with my new gf and we're still in honeymood period :D

- Checking in at The Ritz at 11:30
- Lunch booked at a champagne bar in Mayfair
- Slot booked at the Ice Bar at 14:00
- Shopping from 15:00
- Bateaux London from 18:45 to 22:45 (valentines dinner cruise down the Thames)

Then sleep till lunchtime Sunday, then head to Covert Garden for lunch at a restaurant.

Never been so planned! Call me sad!

Congratz you've managed to pacman your whole bank account in a day haha.
But then again your no doubt loaded.
 
I've now decided that I'm gonna keep myself as busy as possible tomorrow so I don't sit at home and wallow in self pity!

I plan on taking a stroll into central london, look round the shops, maybe pop into the Natural History museum because that's always worth a look, maybe a gallery and generally just having a wander all by myself! Hurrah for having no single friends...
 
Got to ask, its not a troll but a serious question - if you are with a boyfriend / girlfriend / wife / husband etc why do you partake in Valentines day at all?

Valentines day is for secret admirers to let you know that they are there, without mentioning names so you will not know who has that 'crush' on you - whats the point if you have been together for several months / years and even married....I think you will know by then that they quite like you.

Like I said earlier in the thread, my wife and I do not do anything different on Valentines day than we do on every other day of the year. We still love each other, we still cuddle up on the sofa to watch TV or chat over the day and we have a nice meal, as normal.

Why don't we do anything, well apart from the obvious chocolates / flowers / set restaurant meals double in price (at least), we don't think that doing something special for a single day makes a lot of difference - we do it every day anyway, what makes that day special?

Okay, if we were single we would probably think differently and if I was trying to hook up then the vomit inducing slushy cards and obligatory chocs / flowers / etc may come into play.

But I am not, as are many of you, so why line the pockets of greedy card / chocolate / flower sellers on a single day - why are you not showing love and affection every day?

Just to clarify I have been with my wife for 12 years now including the dating, engagement and married bits, so I am not still in the 'honeymoon' period of everything. I just enjoy who I have with me so show that as often as I can. It doesn't take much time out of a day to spend a bit of time with your partners :)

I suppose the worst side of this is you could spend, possibly, a fair wedge of cash and have a real crappy night out - packed noisy restaurant, dark chocs when (s)he likes the milk ones or expensive flowers that die the next day.

Not the night you would like to remember.

I am not poo-pooing everyone having a romantic night but why does everyone have to do it on a single day just because some card company (I know at the root of all this a card company invented this stuff!) thought it would be a good way of making some extra wedge.

Either way - hope you all enjoy the night with your other halves, like I said - I was just interested in why everyone 'does' Valentines day.

I think I'm going overboard this year because the day has come during our honeymood period (3 months. Fatal!

You could always post on here requesting an OcuK valentines meet in the toilets on Clapham Common ;)

To all you singletons, don't worry valentines is a load of crock anyway. Doing something nice or surprising the one you love/like/want in bed is better done on another day in the year when they will be truly surprised.

I feel sorry for the guy doing the ritz, champagne, ice bar etc, sex sin't worth that much :p:p
 
I'm spending Valentines Day in the Dog House it seems......:mad:

Why? I'm having my 12 year old daughter to stay.

I worked last Saturday, so I only had her on Sunday last, therefore she comes to stay all weekend when I'm off and thats how this weekend falls.

My GF seems annoyed that I'm putting my daughter first, and I'm not willing to cut back my daughters time with Dad (me & her mum are divorced)

I'm sure it would have been nice to have not had her and taken my girlfriend out and I'd honestly (bar the over inflated Restaraunt prices!) have liked a nice night for just the two of us.

The bottom line ,from my point of view, is my daughter wants to see me and I want to see her....

I think her annoyance stems from my girlfriend's ex being quite the opposite and not having his daughter on a regular basis, I guess I just get the backlash?

Who's right, or are we both wrong? :confused:

Oh well, I'm glad I got that off my chest! :o
