Any bad drivers here?

Worst (2005): DR10 on my license crashed into a hedge after swerving to avoid a motorcyclist, on wrong side of road on a corner 'knee down', had had a few beers (4 pints) earlier (3 hours before) in the day, breath test failed......will do it never again! Not drunk and drove since, if I drink we get taxi or walk :)

2nd (2002): drove through a red light about 2 weeks after my test at 3am nothing on road but me, got flashed :eek: but nothing came through post....still I aint done it since.

3rd (2003): Overtaking a lorry on A17...60mph speed limit I hit 75mph to over take, as I pulled in, went past a camera i hadn't spotted at 70mph :mad: 3 points and £60.

Your worst driving was avoiding killing some idiot coming at your on your side of the road?

No it was driving after drinking....glad I didnt hit him or owt....would have been time inside for me!

Cops thought I was trying to pull a fast one by blaming a biker for the crash and not my drinking...however a car pulled up as they we going throught the process of arresting me and the women driver started to rant at the coppers for spending time pulling me out a hedge when there was a motorbike going around the roads like it was Brands Hatch which she also had to swerve to avoid :D which then validated my story.

3 hours is nowhere near enough time to sober up from 4 pints. Personally, I wouldn't even sit behind the wheel if a drop of alcohol has passed my lips that day. I only barely trust myself to drive sober. :D

+1. But since I'm new to the whole driving thing, I'm used to walking everywhere anyway. If I had grown to rely on my car, I can imagine thinking it an inconvenience.
 
Anyone else find reverse parking way more convenient than forward head on parking?
 
Reverse parking is really easy! Parallel I can sorta accept but it's still not hard :/

It's easier to get lined up first time rather than swing in fowards, mrk, so I sorta agree.

yup. i always reverse park as its a right pain in the backside to reverse out of spaces.

I cant parallel park to save my life, but then i haven't done it since my test. 3 years ago.
 
How'd you avoid parallel parking for all those years? Don't live in London do you? :p

Me:

Two worst bits of driving was early in my career and one was not that long ago. First one was at a junction with right turn filter, saw green and went straight on, happened to be the right turn filter, think i was driving maybe 2 months max then :o A few months ago i ran straight through a red light that maybe was red for quite a few seconds, had picked up a drunk mate and was occupied by his blather, i was stone cold sober :rolleyes:
Generally do about 35-40 in a 30, 45-52ish in a 40, 55-60 in a 50 though i've caught myself at 70mph almost when overtaking someone on a 50 a few times :o (quite easy to do with a few cars i've had) usually cruise at 85ish on a motorway. Parallel parking is easy for me but i always end up a few inches out when i drive low profile tyred cars for fear of curbing the alloys :D. Driving now from since 98 or so with no points yet and no accidents.

Once I overtook a bus who had just turned on their left indicator. Obviously I thought the bus would pull over, but it didn't, so I had to speed up really fast to overtake and there was another car coming right at me. That was close.
 
I'm pretty terrible at big, unfamiliar roundabouts. Can't read the road markings quick enough to get into the right lane. :(
 
I think that is not really a problem but a trait of all drivers using unfamiliar roadage :p

I know I'll be in the wrong lane for sections of road/roundabout I'm not familiar with on occasions!

Mainly in London even though I'm familiar with the areas I visit it's still hella confusing when you've got traffic all the way up your chuff!

everywhere i park is multistory/large car park. Rarely park on side streets and when i do they are generally quiet so i don't have to Parallel park so have fallen out of practice.

I can do it, but i wouldnt want to do it with traffic waiting/people watchin just incase i **** it up ;)

As I said above, I'm the same :p

It's so damn easy to crunch your alloys if you make an error of judgement pulling forward into a space - If the kerb is low I usually do the mount the kerb trick and come back down with the wheels at about 45* to judge it better without crunching them or having to mess around afterwards :p

As for bad driving, there was a point where I felt I was driving worse than I was when I passed my test, but I seem to have slowed down a lot now and drive a lot more safely than say 6 months ago. The only time I'll go a bit silly is around quiet roundabouts for the lulz :p

I'm the average driver

I have no idea how to use a roundabout.

I hog the middle lane.

I undertake.

I tailgate.

If my car is slower than yours I drive 2 inches from you bumper to show how great/fast my car is.

If I do something stupid I rant at you and flip you the bird.
