**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

You won the league by 4 points.

Without Ronaldo you wouldn't have won it.

United without Ronaldo at the start of the season were 3rd best.

You do talk some ***** at times.

At the start of the season Utd were 3rd best. I mean seriously give it a break, it doesn't matter who's best or worst at the start of the season it matters who's best over all the season. What next, if games finished after 75 minutes Liverpool would have won it, if the team with the most corners were awarded the Premiership then Arsenal would have won it etc etc etc Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Then the classic "well on paper yadda yadda yadda ad nauseum". It's all well and good doing teams on bloody paper but games are played on grass.

I remember the summer RvN was sold. A very large contingent of non utd fans on these boards were all very smug, magnanimous and breaking each others arms patting them selves on the back at the prospect of Utd's demise. They were so sure that Fergie had lost his marbles, Utd would never replace his 30 goals in a season and would ultimately slip to Blue Square obscurity.

Funny because they did replace him and went onto bigger and better things. No one player is bigger than the club or any club for that matter. It's a team game. Maybe we rebuild next year and finish 2nd or 3rd big deal (my money is on Chelsea for next year) but we will be back stronger in the long run with the loss of Ronaldo

I talk a lot of ****?

Everything i said was true.

My point about united being weak at the start of the season was in relation to Ronaldo (which is what the discussion is about) It wasn't a brash comment.

I'm aware that what's on paper means nothing when it comes to it. I was simply pointing out that if Chelsea keep their key players fit they have a very good chance to win the league.

Yes you do talk a load of *****

And whilst im on the subject *** *** ***** ***** **** you any ****, *** *** *** ***, Three *** **** !!!!!!!

One *** *** ***** and *** *** *** **** and *** *** *** little boy, *** ***** **** *** Lane !!!! ;)

Your point about being weak is irrelevant. It's who lifts the cup that matters. When people look back and see that was the year Utd equalled Liverpools 18th title, do you think anyone is going to say, well you know what they started out weak

Jesus, how hard is it to comprehend.

I understand that it is the FINAL position that matters.

My point was in relation to RONALDO who wasn't playing at the start of the season which MIGHT suggest how you'll perform without him.

He said it, in less words than I was going to.

Oh united fans disagreeing with me

I'm in shock

Again

It's not my fault he can't understand my point. I acknowledge its the final position that counts. I was simply highlighting the part of the season you were without Ronaldo in relation to how you're going to cope without him come August.

Does that mean if Man Utd meet Real Madrid in the Champions league we can all cheer when Roney gives Ronnie a big kick for payback for getting him sent off (kind off) in 2006? :D

You were highlighting the part of the season we were without Ronaldo.

You've constantly through this thread said that United are now nothing without Ronaldo, implying that atleast.

It's just hilarious how Bias you think you can be and have your opinion, but when a United fan has one about his own club, or your club, its a whole new story.

Im not sure Man Utd had agreed to anything before yesterday / today

The fact that the figure has changed, albeit not by much (considering the sum involved) and few other small things make me think there might have been an informal agreement between SAF and Ronny last summer, but nothing official until this week.

Trust me, this was all arranged last summer.

Give us one more year and then you can go for 80 mil.

He will tear La Liga to bits and Real Madrid know it, he will earn them more money in the next year or so than we ever did out of him and they know it.

I just hope for his sake he's not signed over image rights to them

No i haven't....

All I've said is Chelsea have a stronger team 'on paper' and have the potential to win the league next year. That is all....

I defended your team and argued you have a stronger team than Liverpool when a lot of others on here were arguing Liverpool had a stronger squad.

What i do believe is that next year will be even tighter than this year...

Well Rooney did cut him in half when he played for Everton. I do feel he has gone to the wrong club, I do hope it falls to **** at real madrid because I haven't liked this constant nagging on about ronaldo from madrid. Clearly this pre-contract was in place I wish they had just owned up and let it happen without the will he won't he fuss all year long.

It's never good for the game when Madrid fall behind and then just try to buy superstars. Can they not actually build a team of their own?

Possibly one or two more big stars to go there. One thing is for certain. Fifa 10 will be a one team game now ;)

I guess Manu fans now know what it's like when your star player moves to a bigger club ;)

I don't see it impacting united too much to ne honest with a couple of solid buys and some younger legs in midfield to replace the aging players they will get by. A chance of focus might help get the best out of other players.

I've seen many many big players that seem irreplacable leave teams over the years only to get by. Its not like Manu will score 26 less goals next season. I'd wager they score as many if not more.

Naturally other fans have come to gloat, if Manu win the league I'm sure they will accept that their team is so **** they got beaten by a weak united team. ;)

THe whole Nike using ronaldo as their main footballing dude at the moment and real being addidas.. think that could change?

What worries me is that I really can't remember when MU let someone go and I thought oh **** we're going the wrong way here, the last time was probably when Kanchelskis, Ince and Hughes went.

But then I think 80 Million pounds, yeah **** it.

But he's 24

Wouldn't you rather have him for 6/7 more years than 80m?

The key is spending it right though. Newcastle selling Milner for £12m seemed great at the time (and he's still not worth that) but with no replacement it was false economy.

Having said that, Ferguson doesn't make many mistakes in the transfer market and it's pretty hard to go wrong when you're buying top players anyway (despite what some think of Berbatov :p).

He has looked disinterested too many times for my liking, don't get me wrong I love him to bits but at times he gets right on my ****ing nerves.

A couple of times this season my Mrs/Friends have pointed out have I've said "oh FFS, **** off to Real Madrid"

I can't deny that.

That is all that is keeping me sane at the moment the fact that we could be unbeatable with the right signings.

Another thing I thought today is that Ronaldo is worth nearly as much as the whole of Newcastle Football Club, slightly surreal :/
