**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

His club say he isnt for sale, and they have had no contact anyway.

I still see this being a very disappointing transfer window for United.

I thought they said he wasn't for sale but would see what happened if someone bid to trigger the release clause. The same with Benzema and Diego Costa

Aguerro isnt the future either, hes more like the Saviola of recent days...

if anyone can remember back, Saviola used to to be the king of champ, one of my freinds even renamed him to El Rego in game - put him up front for Barca with rivaldo or some deal and just win...

50 million is crazy money for that kind of talent imo.

Whatever anyone says, Ronaldo is a proven talent in a top division, in the top competitions, on the world stage over a good couple of years. that and his age justify his grossly inflated fee..

What does Aguerro, or Bezema have?

What does Aguerro, or Bezema have?

Undeniable potential?

After all that's all Ronaldo had when we signed him.

I know what you're saying, the figures of 35m upwards for Benzema and Aguero are a risk considering their age and lack of playing time/experience (Benzema more so IMO as Aguero has proven talent in La Liga as well as on the International stage with Argentina) but with the inflated market because of Madrid that's what it's going to cost to get these players this summer

You just have to hope that your gamble comes off

What does Aguero, or Bezema have?

I havent seen Benzema much this season, saw him in the CL and he was good but cant really comment on him from that. Aguero on the other hand, seen him play probably 7/8 full matches and highlights every week on revista. You can just sense talent with certain players, Original Ronaldo was the same for me, talent oozing out of every orifice!

This season has been a real turning point for Aguero, there was too much going on mentally for him, worrying about himself in terms of talent, worrying about big clubs - a lot factors. Since i think about November it was, the kid just completley changed. His game upped another level, he was absolutely electric from about xmas. I have no doubt what so ever about the kid making a HUGE impression on world football given time.

You just have to hope that your gamble comes off

Quite right, Torres was a gamble when Liverpool splashed out for him, what a steal he is now tho!

Surely Man U need to concentrate on bringing an outstanding midfielder to the club to "replace" Ronaldo rather than spend all that money on a striker?

You would think so, they need to sign Valencia. The kid undoubtley has potential. Ferguson is the man to make it happen aswell.

Not really as long as the goals of Ronaldo and Tevez are somewhat replaced I see no problem in Valencia being the positional replacement for Ronaldo and Benzema or Aguero replacing the goals up front

Makes you wonder who at clubs like Chelsea signs the players because you can bet Ancelotti will of never heard of him before yesterday. Unlikely to be on Wilkins say so either given how long he's been linked with a switch to Chelsea

Lol, everyone knows what happens at Chelsea :p

RA, Kenyon & Arnesen all play FM09 together and if RA loses he goes and buys the best players off the other 2, except he does it in real life just to really show them who's boss.
So he visits the player in a blacked out limo with a suitcase full of notes to tempt him in then when he's inside, "CLICK, CLICK"" the doors lock and one of his henchmen puts a gun to his head and forces him sign a contract.
Then he takes the player to our training ground and presents him to the current manager with a warning that "he must play this player even if he turns out to be rubbish or the managers family will suffer"

Chelsea don't have a massive worldwide scouting network with ideas of exactly the sort of player they want, producing detailed and comprehensive dossiers on potential targets which are then presented to the board who will discuss it with the manager and see if they really want to sign the player unfortunately, and you can bet that Ancelotti will be really surprised to hear they've signed Sturridge.
Just like JM was when they got Shevchenko.

Ronaldo didn't just bring goals though, he got a hell of a lot assists too. Man U need to try bring someone in similar to that. I don't see a young striker like Benzema or Aguero doing all that great now, maybe in the future.

Ronaldo got a total of 12 assists in all comps last season, hardly a hell of a lot considering he must have played at least 50 games

He only got 13 the season before as well

EDIT: Van Persie got 11 assists just in the league alone last season!

Not loads of assists but scoring 68 goals in those 2 seasons as well makes up for that I think :p
United will be hard pushed to find 1 single player that can bring that to the team as a whole, not scoring all those goals themselves but providing for others as well. It's great saying buy Valencia and a striker, but you can't play with 12 men on the pitch!

If you took Ronaldo out of last seasons strongest united lineup, what other 1 player could/would you replace and think that 68goals/25assists in 2 seasons is possible between them?

Lol, he cant be assisting and scoring at the same time. :D

Well if we get rid of crappy Tevez and replace him with a striker who can actually score regularly then that will improve the team.

No one is saying you'll be able to replace all of the goals and assists with 2 players let alone one but by getting Valencia and a world class striker it'll go some of the way

There's not a player in the world that would have/will be able to replace Ronaldo like for like but he's gone now and we've got to get on with it and the team needs to adapt the same way it did when Becks went, the same way when Keane went and the same way when Ruud went

Who'd of thought losing a player like Keane the heart and soul of the team and replacing him with quiet wouldn't say boo to a ghost Michael Carrick would result in 3 titles on the bounce? But we did it and we'll do it again.
