**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

I'm sick of the transfer window already.

Boring rumours day after day that amount to nothing, the player comes out and denies it, then the rumour is still there the next day going on and on, and then eventually the player gives in and says "**** it I lied i'm moving."

I've never hated a transfer window so much.

Same old **** every summer and every January. Passes the time, I suppose.

I'd rather not lose Alonso or Mascherano, but I just wish they'd come out and say what they're doing either way.

I really dont know who would replace Alonso if he went, but I'm sure Benitez has plenty of targets lined up.

The only one I really have knowledge of is Javi Martinez and I believe he's already said he doesnt want to move.

Although Alonso was far more important than Mascherano was to our league form last season, it's far easier to replace Alonso than Masch.

We don't need a like for like replacement for Alonso should he leave. Although I am not suggesting we do this, we could always move Gerrard back alongside Masch, play that all season and sign another attacking player instead. If Masch left I don't think we could just put Gerrard alongside Alonso, it may work for 70% of the games but you need a Mascherano type player for the other 30% and he's as good as anybody around at doing what he does.

If Alonso does go (and it's far from certain that he will) then I am sure we'll sign another cm. The problem is that I really don't see who we could realistically sign that could directly replace Alonso so I wouldn't be suprised if we signed a solid CM and then spent the bulk of the money reinforcing our attack. I am not sure how feasible it is but I saw a post on RAWK or TLW suggesting that an extra £35m may allow us to sign Cambiasso and Silva, and as much as I'd love Alonso to stay, the sort of money we're talking about may allow us to improve the side as a whole.

BBC have updated site saying Alonso has handed in request to leave.

Then followed by Madrid saying they will have to sell 5 players to fund any more purchases.

Hope they sell M. Diarra to Arsenal, he's what is needed, power and strength coupled with good technical ability. Could be Arsenal's Essien :)

no more signings by united apparently

Like Baz I don't completely believe Fergie, but if it's true and they won't be spending any more money this Summer that probably increases our chances of getting Aguero or Ribery, if either of them fancy playing in the PL of course:)

I don't 100% believe Manchester United won't sign anyone else, I think there could be another signing.

Owen having a good pre season will do him no end of good, he's not had a full pre season for a long time.

Looking forward to seeing who Chelsea do sign, I thought that the club lacked some good younger players, they have a fantastic team, but are lacking in young players coming through. They've done this, signed a couple of youngsters :) Still think they might splash some cash on a big name.

Liverpool, haha :) I thought they over spent on Johnson, but I stand by it been a good move for him, and probably Liverpool. Mash and Alonso aren't worth the money been talked about, but Liverpool have every right to try and milk Real Madrid for everything they can, given the spending spree, I think had Real not spent almost 200 million this summer Liverpool wouldn't be asking for such high amounts. Alonso, putting in a transfer request doesn't surprise me, he's spanish, Real are a massive club, people dream of playing there. After last season, and the hype over Barry moving to them, must have stuck in his mind. Alonso is a far better player then Barry, I never understood why Liverpool wanted Barry.

Arsenal, needed to just bring in some fresh blood and some experience. Remove dead wood. They look to be trying to do this, so well done them.

Sheffield Wednesday, anyone want to buy us ? :p

I dont think Chelsea have a hope in **** of buying Ribery, just because he seems sooooo attracted to RM (few continental players arent - and are even more attracted the more stars are signed, even though its harder competition for starts which is a little bizarre)

Aguero would be a great signing for anyone that can persuade him and knowing Utd's "luck" he will sign for the Blues at some point
