Why shouldn't you have one if you are middle-aged? ...or even elderly

Becuase it's a midlife crisis car for middleaged men. Very uncool, whereas in your 20's it's quite a cool car to drive.

You always see some fat balding man driving one and think, jesus man, get a grip.

Here it is. 380/1000 Impreza WRX Type RA WRC Limited Edition.

I love the blue RA seats. I'm only the 2nd owner from brand spankers. Its between 300-320 on a VF29 and has the lowest ratio box you can get on a classic so its acceleration is quite impressive. The wireless is made by Nakamichi which is quite posh. I'd owned the car for a month before my daughter found the remote in one of the glove boxes

You've got a better model than the old Turbo 2K so don't know how yours drives. Don't be sarcastic though, you clearly have no idea how fast Octavia's can be, probably the fastest car 60-120 that i've owned and the Porsche will take any Subaru all day long

One of my managers had a P1 Impreza and then 'upgraded' to a 996 and if I'm honest it didn't feel as fast and his P1 would have been quicker to 60 I'm sure.

Mine will keep pulling past 100. It runs out of gears before it runs out of boost really. I've set the RPM beep quite low because its too easy to go sailing up the limiter. Never hit the limiter in my UKer but have done a couple of times in the RA.

Mmmm not going to get into the whole willy size debate, but exactly which version of the Impreza is faster than a C4S? The old P1's were very fast to 60 but since then, there has only really been the RB320 which produces the same horse power and weighs about the same, and I bet the Porsche will keep going long after that runs out of puff

See it as a compliment that your car is being compared to a Porsche, which cost considerably more

I was just saying you were being sarcy over the Skoda but I made the point of saying the Skoda, with some heavy tuning albeit, was much faster up to 120 than the Porsche is, but then again I'm comparing a standard Impreza so it's all relative!

Back to my original point - the old T2K's were very much punch you in the back of the head the second you hit 2500rpm and hold on for dear life...maybe more modern ones are a little less harsh? It can't be good for the car having such an intense power surge surely?

The new ones feel a little less harsh due to the extra weight. However, mine kicks your neck back nicely at anything above 2krpm..

I'd much much rather have the brutal power delivery. My dad is 51 years old, has a WRX modded to a good 320-300bhp, and he can't get enough of the power delivery. He loves the mid range "punch" that it gives him, along with the awesome exhaust soundtrack.

That RA is nice.

My mate used to have an RA that was also on low ratios, the acceleration was stupid, he used to race my mates in there TT's all the time, and as you say he always ran out of top speed and they left him (I know racing is stuid etc).

I would love to have an RA one day.

On the mid life crisis comment, there is a guy who owns a mint blob eye, he had it all stickered up, but has recently removed them and it looks much nicer, the one thing he has done which is horrible though is add a dual exhaust system, ruins the sound.
