Am I wrong to want an Impreza?

IIRC the 2.5 is considered to be a weaker engine and thus more likely to have problems, especially if you start ramping up the power.

Both engines are equally good up to about 400-450bhp, although the 2.5 will need a bigger turbo to get the same power (an MD321T against an H for the 2.0 for instance). The 2.5 can be taken further than this: Duncan Graham is running about 550bhp on his for example. But all the really big power boys use stroker kits and custom re-builds, usually based on 2.0 or 2.2 engines. But since the final results will be swept volumes of 2.1-2.33 litres, you can't really call them 2 litres any more.

One thing I like about my scooby is the exhaust note, it sounds awsome with the exhaust thats fitted on mine.

Reliability plummets sharply on the 2.5 engine when you push it over 350 TBH.
The pistons are weak in standard form.

My mate has done well on his 321T and 2.5, to well infact. Shoved a FP green on my Evo in the hope to give him a good fight but he is running to quick I think :p

Best time of 11.203 @ 127.44 on the T with him now having the new V model so probally sneak into the 10's with 500hp(git)

We are going to be looking to buy one next year, the wife loves them, so I said we would look.
I used to have a L reg Legacy Turbo, and that used to return high twenties early thirties on the road.

The 2.5s in standard form don't rev very high either do they?

7k but low end torque is awesome so usually they are mated with a large and laggy turbo to get big power

anyone exchanging a 2.0 to a 2.5 will always used a built engine unless they are stupid

2.23 lumps are the best of both worlds, 9k limiter and the displacement to support a large blower - mega bucxks though

11.2 on a T? What shape car is that in? Flipping fast that is!

O right, didn't know you knew ScoobyDazza. His car is literally a drag machine lets be honest! But even still, 11.2 @ 127mph is hugely fast.

Hasnt been stripped for long :)

Plus he is a fat git so taking that weight out has just made things even :D

He made between 435 and 475hp on differant RR's, have to admire the time.

I would like the VXR owner to have a race agianst my WRX, ;)

sure

you comming to the members meet next week ?

for the record though, my statements were about standard WRXs. Once you've spent enough taking it to 290bhp, the next stage after a £500 remap for the vectra is a new turbo and 400bhp ;)
