I don't think Lampard needs any more competition, he plays every week because he's a great player. He's already got Deco breathing down his neck to keep him honest 
If Chelsea want to add to their squad I would maybe look at bringing in a winger to give competition to Malouda and Cole.

Pirlo is ****ing excellent.
He could set there and ping the ball about all day as long as he has a couple of work horses with him, i.e Essien/Mikel even Lampard to a point.
I would worry about Chelsea if they had Pirlo sitting there :/

Yes Pirlo is still a great player on his own merit but see in a big game against us for example I'd expect Fletcher and his energy to easily nullify any threat he may have
Pirlo is like Scholes, he'd be great against the lesser teams but in the big games just wouldn't have the time and space to allow him to dictate the play at this stage of his career and everyone seems to be of the opinion that Scholes is now crap.....
I suspect that's probably the same reason as to why Deco doesn't appear to have played for Chelsea since the second game of last season against Wigan (or if he had hasn't done anything of note (and yes I do remember that he scored against Bolton but you get my point))

Deco doesnt have a career in Football anymore, he doesnt give a ****...when you turn 30, its the players that love the game that make that big effort to stay on top of their game. Deco is'nt one of them!
Zhirkov for Malouda, Cole for Anelka. I think your all good on the winger front for now. Maybe a utility winger that can play both sides and up front? Where you gonna find one of them tho!

Why when he manages to do it against all other teams? He played against Chelsea at OT last season and bossed the game along with Giggs, he ALWAYS completely does over Arsenal's midfield when he plays against them (showed it again in both Semi Final's last season), the only big games Fletch didn't start for us last season were the two against Liverpool (lost both), the defeat at Arsenal and the draw at Chelsea - a coincidence? I think not.
I cant see how a player who has always relied on time and space like Pirlo would manage to have a good game when he's got Fletcher buzzing around him for 90 minutes.

Sorry i just remember the 3-0 thrashing AC gave Man U in 2007 at the San Siro. Pirlo was playing some stunning football. Fletcher didnt play in the other leg when Man U won.

True but it's well documented that Milan's preparation for that game was a lot better than ours, they had no league title to go for whereas we were challenging with Chelsea for the Premiership. Not to mention the entire team that night was utter turd.
That was also 3 years ago and Milan are a shell of that team now, as displayed by Arsenal when they played them - and that was only 1 year later!

Simple fact is Gattuso and Pirlo ran rings around Fletcher and Carrick. Thats why i think Pirlo would do the same if he was dropped into the Chelsea team.

No but I know for a fact that we played our entire first choice 11 on the Saturday before hand whereas they rested their entire first choice 11, not that that defenders the completely abject performance that night but SAF himself points to the fact that they were in a position to rest players before hand as a major reason behind our collapse
That's of course without mentioning the obvious which is Milan were a bloody good team back then
The simple fact is that that was 3 years ago and neither Gattuso or Pirlo are the same players they are today that they were back then
