**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Liverpool linked with aquilani and villa if alonso deal goes through? villa would never sign, despite valencia's debt he'd still have a huge price tag. I'd much rather see de rossi than aquilani, but that too is unlikely

Villa is happy at Valencia, he only had contact with other clubs because he was told he was going to have to be sold, now they are a bit better off, he doesnt have to, or want to, be transfered.

When will the bs stop with Villa.. Aston Villa, that is. Apprently we're now after Sneijder.. yeah, ok, because that's going to happen :D:rolleyes:

Considering how much money Randy Learner has, im suprised your lot havent dipped into the market yet, im meant your end of season form was shocking, which suggests you really could do with a tad more quality, ie not Heskey:p

Money isn't the problem, it's the bloody manager. As good as he is with the players he has he just will not fork out for someone. Young was £10m and he's worth double that now, easily, but we don't want investments, we want quality to compete.

I've commented on him joining Chelsea a few times in this thread, I can see why CA wants him but he's just too old and if anything we need to ship out a couple of ancient midfielders not get another one in.

Where would he play though and at whose expense?
Our midfield already has enough depth and quality so if he does play it'll be instead of either Mikel, Essien, Ballack, Belletti, Sir Frank, Malouda or J. Cole all of whom have proved then can at least hold their own in the PL.
He's a gamble we don't need.

He would essientially replace Ballack in the pecking order if he was brought in. More competition for Frank aswell to keep his passing game and dictating on the lock down.

Edit: Before anyone says there not similiar positions - I know he doesnt play the same position to Lampard. If Pirlo came on for Lamps, then Essien would be allowed to roam with Mikel sitting.

I honestly don't know where he would play, but Ancelotti needs to make his mark on the squad, and I can think of many worse players he could choose to do it with.

Don't know if it's been mentioned, haven't been paying much attention to what premiership clubs have been doing but they were saying on yorkshire radio today that theres rumours that manchester city offered £10m for fabian delph of leeds

Lampard/Essien/Pirlo would be quite juicy!!
