Corsair H50 Water Cooling Kit

5 -15C difference on load temps with custom water, there are so many variables to make exact figures impossible
 
I just got on of these, is the paste on the head of the product good enough or should i scrap it and just put some on the CPU? or should i put it on both? or is that bad? Thanks in advance.

When it is installed the pressure will transfer and spread the paste. Obviously if you have something better to hand, clean it off, but from what I've read the included paste is fine.

I use 2 apache fans there great and cheaper.
 
hmmmm

just ran 8 workers of prime95 blend and temps went from low 30 idle to 60 to 61 across the 4 cores. This is at stock.

Anyone remember what temps they were getting at stock?
 
Capriboy, with my TRUE, and my chip at stock, my idle temps are about 37c, and full load temps are about 65 to 66c iirc..
 
thanks ppl. Ran for about 15 mins, using real temp and after first min or so didn't fluctuate. I'm using the corsair fan with my zalman case 120mm as push pull exhaust.
 
Rather that start my own thread asking for advice I thought I would segway off this thread as the H50 is a factor in my dilemma..

OK, so I'm looking to upgrade my cooling, here's my current spec for reference and context:

Q6600-G0(3.4-3.95 depending on the weather) evga 608i rev2, cheapo 2gb OCZ ram (as my teamgroup fails again and again) 8800GT - Case is a Thermaltake Mozart TX with 6x 120mm fans,

I currently have a watercooling loop that consists of - (mock me! my budget was like my IRLpeen - sadly, neither have grown) - XSPC 120.2 RAD, neXXos XP block, alphacool pump in res (dont know the precise model, but it was around 30 - 40 pounds 2 - 3 years ago)


..and the context of my query - Ive had a rocky relationship with this set up but due to unavoidable circumstance I've had to make do with this exact system for the last 18 months (poor me), in which time I have completely neglected to change out the coolant (distilled with ant-alg) or service any of the watercooling loop, my pump now makes a rather loud (-er, as if an innard is off-center rattling) noise and bubbles stay dead in my loop and there appears to be very little movement in the flow of water, temps are around 50 idle and around 60-70 load (general use) with Q6600 at 1.45 / 3.6ghz (680i droops like a mother) and orthos FTT for 2 hours nets me 78 - 85 across all cores.

At this juncture I'm making preparations and reparations for my graphical upgrade (5850/70) and giving my case a shake out. Would a smart man buy a Corsair H50 for his CPU, thus allowing me to use my current watercooling loop as a GFX loop with only the necessity of a new pump and GFX block, or spruce up my current loop with a new pump, cpu block tubing and RAD, I figure both will set me back around 150 notes,..

Irrelevant to this topic but does anyone know if the new ATi hardware 5*** is compatible with the swiftech MCW60R or any better universal GPU waterblock?


So I've kinda made my mind up whilst typing this and am going to get a H50 to spear my CPU and leave my current loop for the purpose of GPU, MB loop - ignore me, I've already gone away.
 
I've installed my H50, got it yesterday.

My temps idle @ 3.0Ghz are Core1: 37 and Core2: 31

I don't like the core temp difference but I also had it with my Tuniq Tower which ran a bit hotter than this. I'm gonna let the MX-2 settle down today and tomorrow I'll do some overclocking and see how it will perform.

I have the Corsair 120mm fan + Yate Loon 120mm fan in push pull configuration in a Cosmos 1000 case. I was wondering, will it work a lot better if you have two identical 120mm fans in push pull or is my configuration of Corsair 120mm + Yate Loon 120mm OK?

I'm no expert, but I would imagine that if 2 fans were to different spec - the loon has more pressure, that over the course of time it would wear the slower fan or vice versa. With regards to performance levels I cannot comment
 
Is the recommendation still to mount the pump with the tubes to the top (Corsair logo upside down)?

Also what is the feeling on thermal compound; use the supplied stuff or use Arctic Silver?

Was wondering the same myself,my AMD bracket came to day(UPS are great:)) so the upgrade will be done at the weekend,I've gone with MX-2 on the thermal front,but just what is the considered opinion of the mounting config:confused:
I was going to mount the rad with the tubes at the bottom,with the block with the tubes at the top:confused:Or doesn't it make a difference,any help on the matter greatly appreciated;)
