*** Official Mass Effect 2 Thread ***

I just love all these alien bars - lots of holographics, nude alien dancers, spirits to destroy half of your brain. Why can't we have discovered extra terrestrial life already? :D

Completed the game. Went Adept Renegade. 100% in every system.

When you complete the game you can carry on and finish any side quests you missed. You can also start a new game with your character, keeping all your weapons and upgrades.

Brilliant game, loved every second. Doesnt come close to the first for me though.

Im still not sure whether i prefer the old land on planets explore and go in the same buildings every time, or the new land on a planet and its an actual mission, although some are very short (5mins for one i did, another there were no enemies)

The suicide mission didnt live up to my expectations though.

10\10 still though, there was never a moment where i didnt want to play it.

My only issue is that the mouse feels a bit sluggish - can't see any way of adjusting the sensitivity.

I did wonder at one point if they'd gone for a "weighted" aiming system, like they do in games like ARMA...but I think this is just sluggish ;) Can't see any .ini file to alter mouse sensitivity either...

That sir is called mouse lag, not a weighted aiming system. Can't stand when this happens in games, probably wont play it at all if its like this..

Installing it now so fingers crossed :D

Wow ....ea kinda rock.:D

Was having problems getting my pre-order items, dlc and logging into cerberus. And after waiting about an hour to chat to an EA rep, she gave me all the codes i needed aswell as evey code for all the pre-order items even the ones from play and in the US :D

Really chuffed

1 thing that really irritates me is how damn slow the mouse speed is when your scanning a planet. Takes FOREVER to scan and in the end just hurts your wrist.

I might be being dumb here - but how does the planet scanning and probes sytems work?

I ran the mouse over the 3 planets in the first system you were in, but I found nothing (should I have found anything?)

Then I sent a probe down to each one, which I've been told gathers resources. Is it right to probe every planet, and do you only need to do it once? I.e, do more probes gather more? Do I need to return to the planet to collect?

All the above seems to be missing from the instructions, unless I missed it...

^See when there are spikes in the graph, for large deposits of an element - launch the probe there to get the most out of it.

Found this on the Bioware forum - fix for the insanely high mouse sensitivity :

Download and install notepad++. If you use notepad or wordpad to edit these files, you will not be able to start Mass Effect 2.

Backup and edit "Mass Effect 2/BioGame/Config/PC/Cooked/Coalesced.ini" with notepad++

Search for "MouseSensitivity" and change it to your liking. I used 0.5.

a) Remove one 0 from "DoubleClickTime=0.250000"

b) Change bEnableMouseSmoothing=true to false

Save file and start ME2

Note that ME2 will not start if Coalesced.ini doesn't contain exactly the same numbers of characters as before.

I have ingame set to low, and use 0.3 in the .ini.

Cant get the importing of save games to work any ideas...

I reinstalled mass effect, and put my save games and character info in the right place...

Good post, I only wish I had seen it before tackling this myself. Took me a little while to discover why the game would crash after editing the file in notepad. Looks like notepad corrupts it because it doesn't interpret null characters or something.

Have you got the scanning upgrade for the Normandy, speeds up the mouse movement.

That or an MX518 and up the dpi while scanning planets.. makes it super fast..

I'm not going to read much of this thread for fear of spoilers but.

This game is bloody fantastic. Easily as good as the first. Addictive. Enthralling. Immersive. Seamless. Well scripted. Well written. Great voice acting. Just awesome.. thoroughly enjoying.
