You called him an average player

Maybe you should re-read what the **** you wrote ;)

And if Pires is average im not sure what Nani is...

maybe you should read the WHOLE post rather than take one little element of it before passing judgement:rolleyes:

and as you should be able to tell, I dont like Nani so I dont really see the point of that statement anyway

Just out of interest how long was Pires' top flight career (not just at Arsenal) - it always appeared that he kind of came from nowhere, had a really good but relatively short career at Arsenal and then dropped rapidly.... this may be completely wrong just how it appeared at the time

edit - Metz (6 years), ify 2 years in Marseille, 2000 - 2006 Arsenal early years where a little iffy but from 2002 - 05 had a decent time (with 05 probably his best season) before running down his contract in 06 and leaving for Villareal where its been a mixed bag of huge highs and bad lows it seems from Wiki

from the same post - and it seems fair to me

3 seasons of good quality stuff compared to 8 each from Viera and Henry - I dont think from this alone that they are of the same quality

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is ready to offload Emmanuel Adebayor, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Wayne Bridge and Stephen Ireland and will make a £50m bid for Liverpool striker Fernando Torres.

**** off Mancini!

I'd heard the Torres Rumors.

We'll have Ireland at Wednesday on a season long loan? :D

I think Ireland would do well at United to be honest, the only problem is he's coming from Manchester City.

lol, Ireland won't go to Utd, he might go to Arsenal though. What on earth is going on with Ireland though, trouble maker in the locker room, lazy trainer, or just didn't like Hughes getting the sack and mouthed off about it like Bellamy did?

Maybe the illness that made him pass out after (or was it during?) a game early season is actually something more chronic and Kanu like, weak heart and can't play every game or something? He was by far their best player last year, but looks like he's out on his behind like Dunne due to bad management, they haven't learnt anything.

Ade will only get worse anyway, is a big ego'd idiot and the haircut was probably the final straw for Mancini wanting to get rid of him, SWP is just pure and utter crap, utterly ineffective for 99.9% of a game, can't cross, shoots constantly only scores with a few deflections, awful passer, stupendously weak, and still better than Walcott :(

Theres better left backs than Bridge, he gets injured to much and is on a lot of cash, offloading seems smart, though he was happy to take the payday on the bench at Chelsea, will he be equally as happy to take an even bigger payday at City on the bench till his contract is up? most likely. I said back at the time, they were desparate for a left back and Bridge was pretty much the only one available, he's been hugely better than Ball and previous cover, but its time to move on.

Will Bellamy leave aswell though, it seems like he didn't get on with Mancini but Mancini has been forced to recognise Bellamy as a massively important player as when he was dropped, City were utter turd, and have been back on course with him playing again.

yes agreed, Denilson for Ireland swap deal :D

That'd fit right in with Mancini's favoured 4 Defenders - 98 defensive midfielders - 1 striker formation

I cant see them getting shot of all of those players, not after one season in some cases.

I can see Wright-Phillips being dumped,he is a complete waste of time, the others, I dont think would go unless they got massive pay offs.
Adebarndoor strikes me as the type who would quite happily rot in the reserves till his contract ran out.

Ireland is a funny one, he is a half decent player, but he isnt a big name is he, and he certainly doesnt fit anywhere in how Mancini sets up.

I'd have Ireland at Liverpool given the chance but being a boyhood supporter of Man United he'll go there if he's given the chance.

That's our transfer budget spent for this summer then.
LOL. We'll have to sell one of Torres, Mascherano or Gerrard to get anywhere near enough money to fund that transfer :(

Am I the only one who thinks Ireland was just a 1 season wonder?

Saw nothing to suggest he's capable of playing for any of the Top 4 before last season and now City are a top 4 club this season he hasn't figured at all

True though he might get a game at Liverpool ;)

He had a trial there, was offered a contract but didn't fancy it. Said the move to Utd at that time of his career just didn't feel right. To be fair to Citeh they do have one of the best Youth set up's in the country so it's no wonder Ireland really blossomed as a player up until recently

Whether he would feel any different now being a more established player . I mean surely if he came then he's got to be confident that he would get a game ahead of Carrick

Ireland cant get a game at City but he'd get a game at United

Hhhhmmm sorry but I just dont see it

hmmm thought there was a rumour of "a difference of opinion" between Ireland and Mancini earlier in the season which is why he hasnt been getting many games.

Personally think Ireland would be a great fit at Utd (but just like Utd ever going for Torres - it just wont happen because of the feelings between the clubs)

Oh yeah the 'news' I was waiting to hear....

MANCHESTER UNITED have made Luka Modric their No 1 summer transfer target.

The Red Devils are preparing a £25million bid for Tottenham's 24-year-old Croatian midfielder.

United boss Alex Ferguson sees Modric as a young Paul Scholes, an attacking midfielder and ball player who can make United tick.

Fergie was even full of praise for Modric in his programme notes ahead of their 3-1 home win over Spurs on Saturday.

Talking about the 5ft 8in player and other small talents in football he commented: "And I give you another wee man who'll be at Old Trafford this afternoon: Luka Modric, who is playing out of his skin at the moment."

Modric signed for Spurs from Dinamo Zagreb in 2008 after impressing for Croatia in the European Championships.

He signed a six-year contract after the clubs agreed a £16.5m fee.

Modric struggled early in his first season as he was played out of position by Juande Ramos as a deep-lying midfielder and also had knee trouble.

It was only when Harry Redknapp took over and pushed him further forward that his career at White Hart Lane took off.

His start to this season was curtailed by a broken leg in August but he returned in December and has been in great form during Spurs' push for a Champions League spot.

The move for Modric is bad news for Michael Carrick, who looks to have lost favour with Ferguson.

Carrick has only started one of the last five games after two poor performances against Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Spurs boss Redknapp is a huge fan of Carrick and may insist on him being part of any Modric deal.

Obviously Carrick wont be going anywhere though
