So thats Modric and Diarra linked to Utd moves today / this week - I guess Utd are now the Moneybags in the league as we seem to be buying everyone (as they are all our "top target") whether they are available or not
I think most of the major buys will happen before the WC (which works for all parties imo) so at least there shouldnt be that long to wait

modric for 25m and carrick, id do that deal. carrick is one of uniteds worst players, this season he has been woeful and cost us so much. Modric would be perfect, modric and benzema and i think we'll be winning the PL next season

Stupid comment seeing as Carrick has given us 3 brilliant seasons in the 4 he's been at United
And Neven Subotic, who was one of the first players I signed in CM2010 when it came out.
Seems Fergie is chasing exactly the type of players certain people said we needed to be signing last year.

Benzema has been pretty dire though hasnt he since he moved? Last thing United need is another poor striker, had enough of them over the past 15 years, wru Mark Hughes + Eric Cantona!
benzema seems more like a rooney type of player rather than like barba, how much have madrid played him? i dont follow spanish football at all so have no idea how he has been doing, but i remember first few games he did decent.

Benzema is another player that doesn't like to lead the line so to speak. Thats the impression I've got of him when I've seen him play. He too likes to drop deep to collect the ball. Like most forwards nowadays really. Those that lead the line like Van Nistelrooy are few and far between at the top level.
Yeah Benzema has been an EPIC flop, thing is though he wasn't their top target, they wanted Villa and when that all fell through they had a look at who we were after and yeah offered more money than we thought he was worth
With all that being said we very well may have had a lucky escape, I'm firmly of the belief that if he's clearly not good enough for them why is he for us? Sure he looked good at Lyon but he had a rubbish Euro 2008 for France in his first appearance on the big stage and then has obviously been very average for Real
At the moment I would say Dzeko should be the one we're looking at, the likes of Benzema and Hunterlaar are just names that the papers like throwing around

LOL just read the Diarra link, I thought initially you were talking about the ex Chelsea player but no you're on about the rubbish one that used to be at Lyon who got a bit of a rep due to playing next to Essien
Ah Diarra, Hunterlaar, Benzema; it's a Fantasy Football Managers dream, just need to throw in a Batistuta or two to complete the set

That French campaign was embarrassing, a terrible manager was the cause of that. Don't know what makes you think Dzeko would be good enough for us, he's done no more than Benzema has at the highest level.
Top scorer in the Bundesliga last season, currently joint top goal scorer this season, scored home and away against United in the Champions League this season, basically performed at a higher level both domestically and in the Champions League than Benzema... there's just a few reasons why Dzeko stock is higher

Yeah top scorer in his first season, hasn't done brilliantly in the 2 seasons after that though
And yes he did score against us, not home AND away though

Seriously though I think Dzeko is a better fit as to what we need, Wolfsberg aren't a great team yet he's managed to be the top scorer in Germany for two seasons running that's quite an achievement!
From what I've seen of him he also looks more than capable as playing as a lone front man which is what we need should Rooney get injured whereas I have doubts as to whether Benzema can do that job not to mention as I said if he cant get in the Madrid team why could he ours?
Dzeko's ability in the air is something we're lacking since Ronaldo left as well, yes Rooney has upped his goal return in terms of headers but he's never going to be a threat at set pieces like Ronaldo was and Dzeko is
