*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Neither has mine, ordered 2 just in case! Have a N1 now so I do actually have one... lol

When they arrive I might give them away for free on here if anyone wants to pay postage.

Please let me stay in this forum :D more active and we are all Android users so <3 <3 <3 <3

I'll have that if it's up for grabs. :D

Well you won't believe the day I've had with my Desire!

You may remember me reporting about my hardware buttons (the home and menu key) intermittently not working, leaving me stuck in the browser as the back button would just go back loads of pages.

Took it back to the CPW today and had a hassle free exchange which I was glad of.

So take the new handset back to work and an hour later I find a bit of time to turn the thing on, to my surprise I get a load of graphical errors at boot up and through the setup the whole display is flickering (a little like tearing whilst gaming without vsync on).

After the setup, I reboot the phone and it's like it on the main home screens. :(

Anyway after work, I make my way back to the CPW and I'm playing around on the phone whilst walking from the car park to the store and the display looked fine

I was concerned as I didn't want them to reject the exchange as I knew there was something wrong with this one and it would come back again.

Anyway, the shops deserted and all the staff are talking in a huddle and they all start to look at me as I approach them with my CPW bag, obviously recognising me from earlier.

I explain the problem and they just look at me for 15 seconds before one of the cool guys there just says "just replace it again".

Thankfully as I was sat down with the guy exchanging the phone, the handset screen starts going mental again during boot after wiping the settings from my phone. I showed him just to ensure he didn't think I was some OCD loser.

So yeah, 3rd Desire and I seem to have a working one. The second replacement also had large gaps around the hardware buttons on the track pad, the new one doesn't.

Have to say, the customer service at CPW was really good :)

Cool story bro :D

Seriously though CPW were fine to me as well really I guess looking back!

I'm uber impressed with the battery life now, just got home and plonked it on the charger, it's been off the charge since 7am ish this morning when I took it into bed to snooze the alarm and right now it's:

Hi guys, Got my Desire a couple of days ago on the twitter deal - really nice so far, apart from the pathetic games on offer for android.. but aah well, that's what a DS is for I guess. Thing is - mine seems dead pink, especially on the camera.. when I turn the camera app on everything has a pink hue, after a little while its a little whiter but still pink for sure.. anyone else have similar issues? The whites are all a bit pink, i've heard of that problem but I haven't heard many people moaning about the camera.. wondering if mine's got a more serious problem.

Different handsets will have varying levels of pink - Whites should not be pink however, that would be a bit ott and I'd see if I could get it swapped for another handset explaining the problem.

I think you should get the Desire (or Nexus One) :p

will be the desire black edition as im on an orange business tariff, ive already got a 16gb microsd from my htc touch hd so that should do for now, i had a quick look and there doesnt appear to be as much activity on xda developers forums as the hd but then again it is newer, can the firmwares be modded and upgraded as easily as the HD?

It will be able to, at the moment there's a simpler root method so you could install another ROM but I'd advise anyone to wait until Android 2.2 is released because then you can install that and root and go from there because Android version development stops at 2.2 for a long while so Google can improve other things in Android.

Is this froyo then? whatever that is

Mines been off charge sinces 3:30 this morning when I got up for work and is now on 29% which isnt too bad I don't think considering how much browsing I've done on it today. It's also the 3rd time it's been fully charged so it will only get better apparently :)

Anyone else got problems with the HTC weather app? It never displays any weather data for my current location if I have it set to do so - it says 'Plymouth' but its 0c and there is 'No weather data available'.

If I manually select my location as Plymouth it works perfectly but then I suspect it wont auto change as I move around now..

Yeah a few of us are having the same problem. I've not looked into fixing it though.

can someone just confirm to me please that if you are connected to wifi and 3g that your phone will always use wifi over 3g?

oh i just remembered all my contacts on hd are outlook, does it sync with outlook?

If you mean Exchange/Outlook then yes it will over a network. If it is a stand alone Outlook then you will need to use HTC Sync (free download). You could export your contacts to a csv and import into Google Mail.
