*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Android by default doesn't do this, I've yet to find a collection of apps to replicate the function.

Using a Bluetooth headset on this phone is only good for receiving calls, which is a bit rubbish.

You need to get the Nexus car dock app and Voice Search app I'm sure there is a link in this thread somewhere

Battery Left was a bit rubbish.... My battery is sat at 68% and Battery Left widget shows 57% but clicking into the app shows 68%.

Now using Battery Time Lite which seems to be accurate and has more function.

From what I can gather it's not too difficult and fairly safe - the biggest issue at present is that there aren't original network-branded ROM images available so you can't flash it "back". If you thus have a warranty issue you'll probably have trouble when you return it and they find you've flashed it.

Question going from the Orange ROM to a generic ROM ... do you have to reconfigure all of the settings afterwards (e.g. internet access point, voice mail number, etc) or is that information held in the settings on the SIM card?

I think the network sends you the settings via sms when you turn the phone on? If not, I think you could easily find the settings on the web and enter them manually.

Mine finally arrived from MPD this morning so should be waiting for me getting home from work tonight :)

Just need to get it up and running with some tune sand movies for the plane tomorrow. I take it if i call T-Mobile tonight they wont be able to transfer my old o2 number over in time?.... I have the PAC code ready.

Coming from Orange to T-Mobile took a day or so to transfer. I called on a Thursday and both sim's stopped working for an hour or so during the switch on the Friday

The battery in mine is getting better and better by the day.

Its been unplugged for 8Hrs 49 Mins and its still at 82%. Not done anything less on it today, just the usual browsing / emails on push, facebook widget running, a dozen or so calls and 20-30 txt messages.

I'd actually be bit wary of using that tbh, as the phone may well be trying to pull over 500mA if it's seeing it as an AC source. If the adapter really is cheap and nasty it might not have the necessary protection for this.
You have a point there. I've just cracked it open to see what is inside. It does use a proper DC-DC voltage converter chip (MC34063) which has an active current limit circuit and a max output switch current of 1.5A. It should be safe enough.

While it was open I measured the current drawn by the phone. With GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on and a Sat Nav program running with a bright screen it took approx 620mA. With nothing on and nothing running it was 520mA with home screen on bright and 480mA with the screen off/phone locked.

How's tmobile signal/3g signal in central brum?

Never had any issues, but I don't spend too much time there, being at Uni in Cardiff, and not really using my phone for 3g data while out in brum on a night out. Check their website or Ofcoms for coverage maps for your exact location. If it says its patchy it means you basically won't get any reception (Same with all mobile phone coverage maps) :)

I live in Selly Oak during termtime and nearish Solihull when I'm back home 'home', and I couldn't get any signal on campus, or in my house at home. And it was pretty patchy everywhere else. In the centre of B'ham it was pretty good, but I guess that is to be as expected.

I cut my contract short anyway, I couldn't cope with the crappy signal any longer :p

i have just un ticked the 'back up to sd card' setting and the phone now shuts down on time...still no joy with sound to key pressing..

I have the same one and its fine on the middle of the screen. I might get one of those stick on dash plates for satnavs.

Have you got a link to one mate?

My dash is quite deep so if I want it at bottom of my windowscreen I cant reach easily to press buttons while driving :(

At the mo I'm using a Swan neck holder but it shakes to hell
