*** The all new Apple iPad thread - Keep all iPad stuff in here ***

oh, i am home, 70 miles, 95 mins journey on the train and only lost signal twice. Both due to the tunnels.

3 = win.

That is if you live in the Midlands !

Beejive is far better. I've bought both and have used IM+ for along time on my iPhone but I much perfer Beejive.

I've had IM+ crash quite a few times on me for no apparent reason at all.
Never had that myself.
Works wonderfully for me on the iPad though. Excellent layout and useability.
Each to their own, but i still stick by IM+ is better. :p

does IM+ push messages and leave you log in even if you go to safari?

Beejive does, and when you get a msg, it pops up like if you get a text on the iphone.

That alone is worth paying for, you know how annoying it is when someone keep signing in and out on a mobile device when you are at home on msn? I hate that person :p

Well used one today and have to say im very impressed....but i just fear it will be like my ipod touch and will after heavy usage first few weeks end up on my desk unused for months :/
I can get one from USA cheap and i think im going to go for it but can someone confirm i will have no problems with using it over here? I will be getting the 16/32gb wifi only.
Thanks

Hah, my boss has been trying since Thursday evening to get his sim active with Orange. However they can't properly diagnose the problem because the system hasn't been updated for the iPad. So they get to a certain way through the trouble shooting and they ask him to do something impossible to do on the iPad, try and browse using a PCs internet connection over bluetooth or using the data cable. Unfortunately the phone staff can't break script, all they can do is raise an issue further up to request the system be changed.

Sounds like the whole Orange launch has screwed up, even the support team says they're not ready for it and it's been a mess.

Was just in the kitchen and thought to myself "you know, I wish I had a tv in here." I think you can guess the rest ;) The iPad is perfect for kitchen or bathroom based televisual needs. I was watching the iplayer. It will be even better once the BBC release a proper iPad version but it was great regardless. The sound was nice and loud over boiling kettles etc too.

I'm still trying to decide what use the iPad is. Its just a enlarged iPod Touch with 3G internet addition. Its slightly too large to be considered a truely portable device.

Even the app store is still 90% full of crap that i don't find remotely useful. I just don't see its point at all. Apple still dont support flash. To me its just another ultra expensive gadget to pull out to impress others with your wealth.

I can afford one if I wanted to buy one, but I just don't see what use it would be. It just doesn't seem to fulfill any purpose.

Thats just my honest opinion.

Not sure why, but everytime I plug my iPad in, itunes only shows music and films as a drop down menu under it, no applications like I do with my iPhone, which I'm finding strange, having to manually sync apps from the applications submenu of my main library, is this normal for an iPad?

Also the fact that whenever I try and move icons in landscape mode, it acts as though the iPad is still in portrait, are you only "meant" to move icons in portrait mode?

These are all the tabs that i see. If i were you i would do a restore and start again.

You lost right there.

How did i lose?

Its not a competition. Can you put it in your pocket? No. Are you going to carry it in your hands all day? No.

To carry it all day you need a bag for it. I don't carry bags every where I go. I can still take an iPod Touch and phone in my pocket tho.

One quick comment on data plans. Three have their MiFi device which allows devices to connect wirelessly to it and then access Internet via 3G.
I already had a Three data card, so when I got my wifi Ipad the shop offered me the MiFi for £30.
Also means you can place It where there is better reception!
