*** The all new Apple iPad thread - Keep all iPad stuff in here ***

Ive just bagged myself a vodaphone sim on which the data doesn't expire and comes with £15 on it. Just needs carefully cutting down to fit :)

Took me 5hrs to fully charge it using the mains from it turning off with no battery left.

The screen is a bugger to keep clean! Even using a specsavers wipe it still is a pain :(

Theres people flogging those screen protecter films for it already on the bay.

I am going to test out the signal for 3 now, on the train from Birmingham to Hereford, 95min, 70miles cross country to see how often I loses signal and if i have made the right choice lol.

I know 02 is dodgy at best, it couldn't even give me a signal inside new street station where 3 gave me a full 3G signal.

So far so good, i am at my first of many stops.

Ok, this is cool, I loaded up maps and it is tracking as the train is moving lol

3 network is surprising me so far, very impressed, not dropped signal yet and i am 30 mins into my journey.

You sir are a legend - have been trying to decide whether to go with 3 or o2 and you're providing a minute by minute review service :p

Anyone finding that they haven't really bothered syncing their iPads much? I think it might be due to my usage (almost entirely browsing and apps atm) but have only once bothered syncing with iTunes and that was registration. I didn't really expect that but I guess it depends on individual usage.

I totally love this gadget. It's one of those things you can't believe you lived without. I found myself coming home today and making a tea in the kitchen with the iPad in one hand reading a news story. Never done that before with an iPhone or even laptop. It really is a sort of void filler I think.

Just found out I can use my Android phone to give 3G to my WiFi only iPad. The iPad isn't jailbroken or anything, all I needed was a rooted Android phone which I have.

Since rooting of Android phones is actively encouraged by Google, they released their own Nexus One with an easy to use root access system, we've had a really long discussion about it on the mobile phone forum. I know that talking about jailbroken iPhones has been a big no no.

Now when I take it to work tomorrow, to show it off (at least 1 person is thinking of getting one), I can tether it to my phone and use the 3G signal.

I love technology.

I use the plug adaptor that came with my iPhone.
Theres the problem then, that plug adaptor isnt a 10W one like the one that comes in the iPad box.
Does the ipad have any good MSN style apps?
Ive used a few, and im convinced that IM+ is the best, by a mile.
How does iphone.tvcatchup.com work on the Ipad? Im guessing it works on it?
Gave it a go the other night, seems to work the same, but quality is lower as its being scaled.
What 3G data plans are people going with?
I went with Threes £7.50 one. Best price, good signal, and hopefully more than enough bandwidth for me. :)
Holy CHRIST this 3 registration is painful!!!
Painful doesnt describe it. I had the same problems too. Useless to the n'th degree!
Just to let everyone know, some Mobo manufacturers have released software for their respect mobos to be able to allow charging over USB.
Annoys me that Abit went under. lol.

Ive left it blank.
Same here, works fine.

Just an FYI for Three users, if you goto http://www.three.co.uk/my3 on your iPad connected with 3g (not on WiFi) it'll auto log you into your account with them. Quite handy.

Good way of doing it, but i'd always prefer to have the 3g on the device itself, as on the iPad, you lose the GPS if you have the WiFi only.

I am not bothered about 3G as the iPad will spend 99.9999999999999% of it's time at my house. I only want to be able to use 3G when I take t to work tomorrow as there's no way I will be able to hook it up to the works WiFi network as it's just for our warehouse management system (also if it's as bad as our wired networt my phone will probably be faster).

I doubt I'll even keep the app for tethering installed on my phone.

Beejive is far better. I've bought both and have used IM+ for along time on my iPhone but I much perfer Beejive.

I've had IM+ crash quite a few times on me for no apparent reason at all.
