*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Considering buying one of these sim free, however is the battery life as bad as people keep making out? I keep hearing people to me say only lasts a day 2 if lucky my current phone can last a awhole week till i gotta charge it? Thou if i can get three days from the desire atleast thats fine.

I get between 1 -2 days with quite a lot of use.

Don't bother me tho as i have a charger at work and i put it on charge every night anyway.

Whats your current phone? Take it it's not a smartphone?

*edit*

Just made a phonecall on Froyo and no echo :D so looks like im keeping it :)

Just a quick update, MyBackup Pro seems to backup apps + app data completely now so anyone wanting just a single backup and restore app should give that a try. It's not as vast as Titanium in system data backup though but I'd still use both, the latter for app+data and the former for system data (mms/sms etc).

Was just about to ask a question about this actually....

I have both backups since rooting last night and have Titanium Backup doing apps and data... What check boxes should I tick on Mybackup or, as I have yet to pay for MyBackup, what will Titanium Backup NOT restore if I just used Titanium Backup ??

Nah its not tis a C902, Im currently on contract you see with orange have been for three years and it expires in 3 months but they will only only give me the HTC desire if i pay em £100 + sign on again for 24months at £20 with no data plan or anything i even said what if im up my tarrif to £30-£35 plan they said i would still have to pay for the phone on all our plans.

So i said fine ill cancel in 2months(gotta give them 30 days notice) their responce was okay =/ So im thinkin now get one sim free now and leave them then.

Id try talking to someone else if i was you.

New customers can get it free with a 35quid a month contract i think it is. So i don't see why they carn't match/better that for you

Imo battery life of the desire is 3 days max of light use and a day of heavy usage. As long as it lasts a day i dont see the problem, just leave it on charge everynight

Took mine to work yesterday after I took it off the charger before going to bed. Was completely dead by 4pm

Not sure if the battery is woking properly yet and might need a few more charges, but hope it gets better even with heavy usage.

Have had the issue where the phone doesnt seem to know how to trickle charge i.e. it charges fully then shuts of charging... Tis an issue when it stops charging 4-5 hours before you get up and the battery drops to 90-95% within 30 mins...

-Ad- how long have you had the desire, i say it requires about 5 full charges before it settles. Also i noticed one of my widgets had a dubugging setting where it would send back data to the delvoloper over 3g which really drained my battery - turned that off shapish!

gumbald - sorted

Richie - i have actually had that happen once but has been ok ever since.

Nice one guys, slightly happier. Totally killed it twice now but with it being Lithium Ion it will need some more.

Pretty much agree with the 3 days light use. I think the problem with the Desire is its so darn good and you can't stop using it, hence the battery life.

I would like to know this too. I'm suprised both don't do what it says on the tin.

Well I called up Orange upgrades just now to get me a Desire but they're out of stock, weep :(

How often/long does it take for them to get stock? :)

I rang them a week ago when they didnt have stock then and at the time they reported it was out for three weeks when they did get some in they went in a day.

When I use my phone inside it wont turn the screen back on again, I have to go outside for the screen to come back on......thats even waving it about like a nutter.

This has happened to me loads & it is getting to be a real problem lol.

No I'm fully aware of the sensor I'm commenting on it's lack of response on my handset :)

This is my point I have to turn it well away from my face .i.e point it well away from me before it will come back to live? ...... Is a real pain

Tap the power button ;)

I had the same issue so in the end I went down to phones 4 u and got an upgrade sorted from them. Got a better deal in the end as well because I didnt pay anything for the upgrade, kept a nice cheap £27 a month deal and got £40 cash back randomly as well!
