Yeah, that whole clicking one button to restore/update thing was really confusing.
Same - it really is pathetically slow to do anything.
Apparently Apple have stop signing 3.1.3.
I'm pretty happy with the GM Seed as I have not yet encounted all these problems. I was thinking about going official but I don't think I will

^same here, everything seems loads smoother now.
Just spotted that, error 3194 when trying to restore, getting app. close problems on my wife's iPod touch too so it's not specific to my device.

iOs4 running on my 3GS and it's gorgeous and fast.
Friend however has installed iOs 4 and it's wiped his contacts, calendar and events. Even when restoring from a backup they don't appear - not that the backup it apparently took before it was updated shows up anywhere anyway.
He's phoned Apple and they've given him £50-odd to spend on the apple store.

It appears google are fixing things. My email, calendar and contacts are now spontaneously back. The email is also showing the threaded email conversations correctly now.
I still dont get the archive options, a swipe just gives me "delete", but its set up as exchange sync and not as a google mail account so I expect that is where that is failing.

Lost all my pictures, contacts...in fact everything!
Luckily i have mobileme and everything is automatically backed up to their cloud but still, i've had a whole day sorting this damn phone out now!

The smoother animation when pressing home, is a nice addition.

on a side note, wanted a fresh start with this update so did a restore, but I would still like all my text messages restored... any way at all of doing this? don't want to restore all the old crap from my backup just the messages...

Anyone else notice that loading the camera takes slightly longer now? (The 'closed shutter' graphic stays up for much longer) I tried switching off Location Services for Camera which didn't help. (I'm on a 3GS)
Edit: Actually *taking* a picture is much 'snappier' now..
