*** The all new iPhone 4 thread - Keep all iPhone 4 stuff in here ***

Does the iphone4 come with an electrical wall plug??...ie so you can charge direct from the wall outlet or do you have to buy one??.

Cheers thanks...although i have one that i bought to use with my ipod touch but just wanted to make sure:).

Looks like i'm in the same boat as you then.

I got a desire a while back and found it really hard to adjust to being disconnected from BIS for about a week, then there was the whole issue of no push for other email accounts (apart from GMail).

Also had some screen issues with it and got a replacement sent and its still fully boxed in my drawer. The one thing that really put me off though was the battery life, yes I know it gets better the more you use it and you have to turn off certain settings to get it to last longer. But then there was that whole idea in the back of my mind that I shouldn't be using during the day because the battery will run down.

From what i've seen and heard so far the iPhone fairs better, though the real test will come from day to day usage.

Nope, i gave up and ordered one instead. I talked the talk and pretended i was left handed, etc and they still wouldn't give in lol. It's a bit of a non-issue for me anyways as i haven't experienced any issues with the way I personally hold it. Also i was planning on buying a bumper anyway, but having a go at getting it for free and exploiting this antenna 'issue' everyones talking about is always worth a try.

Have a go anyway and see :) I so far only know of one person on here that has managed to get one for free.

Yeh someones GF did. I tried on sunday but he was a complete tool and they didn't speak much english. Going to try again today. I refuse to pay while others get them for free!

Yup it was someones GF wasn't it. You say others get them for free, but I've been searching a few forums on this and I've so far only known that guy's GF get one lol

Ha ha it was my GF that got one, shes been checking macrumors avidly and found that as days goes by more and more people are being rejected for the free bumpers, this may have something to do with the supposive 'fix' that is due out soon.

She did call Friday early afternoon when i am guessing less people knew apple were giving them away free. Also at that time she mentioned she did have a cheap case which did help matters and said to the teleperson than online have said that bumpers helped the signal issue, to which the teleperson said 'oh really' and then agreed to give it to her free, i have to admit my GF do have a way with words, and its more about trying to be chummy with the teleperson than attack them and apple.

Good luck again!

and at a cost of $187.51 that's a hell of a markup!!

http://gizmodo.com/5574423/16gb-iphone-4-parts-cost-18751

that doesnt tell you the whole story.

Heres an example, i used to work for a clothing company, and on our computer system one of the things that we had access to was the unit price. This was the actual price of the raw garment, straight from the mill in india etc..

They would sell (for example) a pair of jeans for approximately £45. The actual cost of the item itself was around £10

this would lead you to believe that they were making over 300 % profit.

But once you had included all the overheads, such as marketing budget, staff wages, lease on company properties, liability insurance, expenditure on staff christmas parties, stationary etc..etc..

The actual profit margin was only 10 %

so of that £45 only £4.50 was profit, despite the item being £10

bear that in mind.

Orange online, they could've delivered tomorrow but I'm not off work til Friday.

Ah that's a bit annoying. I just got off the phone to them and they're saying they haven't got any and don't know when they're going to get some more in. Ah well, suppose a few more days can't hurt at all. :p

Was it the 16GB or the 32GB that you went for?

That 'profit' has to cover an awful lot of costs, from the research and development of the product all the way through to the marketing of it as well as paying for every building (and it's associated costs (heat, electricity, water, rent etc etc) and supplier and staff member costs. Really, the list of costs just goes on and on and it annihilates profits very quickly.

16Gb mate, i've had an email confirming delivered and tracking says it's being ready for dispatch so if they turn around and say they haven't got any i'll be fumin'! :D

It does say that in the news story :) They also mention that the profits look similar to the previous iPhones.
