He has lost what little pace he had, but he is still a bag of tricks. I'd certainly have him as a squad player at Spurs, though I think he wants first team assurances that I don't think we can really offer him.

I wouldn't play him over our current LM choices tbh. He's a great player, but I think we're covered for that area now.

There's something that doesn't seem right about Chelsea letting Cole go.

There must be something up with his attitude or health, when he plays well he's a cracking player to have and not the kind of person you would expect to see being released for free unless there is a serious issue.

Its unlikely that Chelsea would disclose any issues anyway, so his new high paying wages club is about to find out the hard way I suppose :p

He's not even a bag of tricks now though, he started 22 and subbed in to 17 more games last season and the only one I missed was some midweek CC game. I honestly can't remember him adding any real contribution to any of those games (apart from a couple of goals in the PL), he tried hard though to be fair, but that's it.

In the few interviews I've seen with him, he doesn't seem like the sort to demand insanely high wages and turn down big clubs just because he wants some more cash, but who knows.

A squad player on the wage he'll want

Why would they replace Arsenal? I dont think Utd are as safe as they used to be. Look what happened when Rooney dropped out injured. I think Chelski are the only ones that can be sure to keep their top 4 place.

A year older and although we are losing a few defenders (apart from Gallas) most are dead wood.

Could be a new best team in Manchester this season ;)

 everyone said we were screwed without Ronaldo yet we managed to finish just 1 point adrift (because of Rooney's injury) and showed that even without Ronaldo we're still way ahead of Arsenal (must we have this debate again?)

United and Chelsea will continue to be the top 2, City will break into the top 4 the only question which remains is whether it will be Spurs, Liverpool or Arsenal that make up the final spot

Think Arsenal will take 3rd quite comfortably tbh.

I dont, when it came down to it Arsenal only ended up finished 5 points ahead of Spurs who personally I dont think will make the top 4 next season

1st United
2nd Chelsea
3rd City
4th Arsenal

IMO

I'm not in a position to rate Benayoun having only seen a few appearances of his over the last 2 seasons and I only mentioned him in reply to Liverpool fans who it seemed would be delighted if they signed J. Cole as a 'replacement'.
Basically, someone who knows more about a player's ability/potentinal than you or I, rates YB above JC.

ok fair enough, still highly confusing if you ask me

Thank you for the reply though :)

Not sure why a lot of people on here are already righting off Man Utd

utd have strengthened this summer (albeit marginally), havent sold anyone of consequence (yet), and if anything should have a better injury record than we did last (not to mention OH who has had good reactions to his increased fitness so far by initial reports, and should be fully fit for start of the season).
Not to mention Valencia who should by all accounts hit the ground running now he knows the team better

Im not assuming at ALL that Utd have a chance at the title automatically, but no reason so far that we will fall out of the top 3, let alone fall behind that "pesky" club down the road.

Edit I hope SAF isnt wasting as much time as is being reported chasing Benzema, he may well become an excellent player but he blatantly doesnt want to come to Manchester - so please leave him in Madrid

That's what you get for being a West Ham supporter...

West Ham are a nice little club in their own way lol

All but confirmed quotes from Fergie in tomorrows papers regarding no more signings this summer :(

Hernandez and former Fulham defender Chris Smalling look like being the only new United faces next season.

Ferguson added: 'We've looked at a few options. We did consider David Villa but he was always going to Barcelona. I just don't believe there is value out there at the moment. I'm very happy with the strength of our squad as it is.

Interesting that we were interested in Villa, sucks about no more signings and another long Ferdinand injury :(

On the flip side, injuries to key players late in the season and the fact that we threw several games away, we could've actually won the league as late as March we were still in it. Nobody has seen Man City in action yet, if they are still struggling against mid table teams next season then they don't deserve to be anywhere frankly. Especially with the obscene amounts of money that they're chucking around. They still only really have Tevez up front who I'd consider a danger, Bellamy is good on his day but when he's bad he's really bad. Adebayor isn't even a threat, laughable that they paid £24 million odd for a striker who wasn't performing and wanted away purely for the $$$. It wasn't as if we were paying him peanuts either, he's just a huge ****ing **** and hopefully Man City fans can see how frustrating he is to have as a player when he has spasms of form that last for 3 or 4 games and then goes anonymous for about an additional 10 or 15 games.

All the points regarding City I agree with which is why I still dont buy into them being a title threat however being a title threat and breaking into the top 4 are two completely different things and with the assumption that Fabrgeas will leave Arsenal I think it's going to be very tight next season between Arsenal, City, Spurs and Liverpool.

Let's say Spurs win their qualifying games for the Champions League, I'm wondering whether they will have a fit enough squad to last the entire season fighting to keep their 4th spot all the while competing in the CL and going for the cup runs that they usual do, I don't think their squad will be upto it, especially Woodgate and King. Man City can just buy cover but I don't see Mancini being the man to make them genuine Premier League contenders, I also don't see Liverpool competing next season the way things are going off the pitch for them but then I guess that's just speculation, Roy Hodgson could work wonders and they could be back where they were 2 seasons ago.

I see one paper today is saying that man city have become the first team to break the £200,000 a week barrier. Supposedly they are paying Yaya Toure £220k a week. (total of 56million over the length of his contract)
