You can email me if you're really that bothered or perhaps Tefal can pass my reply on although I'd prefer if emails aren't thrown about.
I can assure you you're making something out of nothing though as far as I'm concerned.

I've emailed him thanks.

I've not made much out of much though, I didn't email you and I didn't mention you in the first place. :p

Got it tefal/JG thanks guys. comments all make much much more sense now, sorry JG. xx

Dear me. After the asylum seekers nonsense earlier, it gets even worse. And the most terrifying thing is the poll result. Maybe I just don't fit in here.

Not sure about total ban but those you mentioned are banned from most shopping center's , bank's , shop's , garage's ect.

Why should the veil be exempt from this ?

it isn't, every shop keeper etc can ask them to leave or lift the veil for the camera/themselves to check.

but if you ask them to remove it permanently they will probably just not shop there.

Fair enough if a shop wants to do that sounds logical, it's their shop after all. Let me get it clear im against covering up of the face its a security risk. This is a free country and you are free do all what you do as long as it doesn't pose a risk to others, i think this does. it causes more trouble then its worth irrespective of religious meanings. A skull cap or wearing a cross possess no risk whatsoever. Ask a UK Muslim female and get her honest opinion if you really want to know what they think. Anyways this is getting too PC for me so that's my lot guys :D

I'd rather not have a government tell me what I can and can't wear, which is essentially what a yes vote is asking for. That's just a little too opressive for my tastes. No thank you.

1. Muslim women wear the veil out of choice, it is not forced on them.

2. You should be allowed to wear what you like- why don't you ask all Sikhs to not wear turbans, nuns to not wear scarfs, gangsters to not wear hoodies.. You see where this is going... you are specifically targeting and further alienating muslim women

Personally I find them offensive, for one because of what they represent - a lack of equality which goes against what our society is based so much upon, secondly because I find it rude that someone covers up their face when you're speaking to them. So yeh I'd like to see them banned.

I think everyone with strong religious views is highly deluded but they have the right to be deluded. If people want to where a veil or stick a banana in their ear in the name of some fictitious omnipotent being then that's their right.

I don't like the idea of banning any form of clothing, but I also don't like the idea of isolating people from society because of their sex, or of treating men as mindless animals, or of treating women as bizarrely fragile, or of giving some people a free pass through almost all security...and a full-face veil does all of those things.

I'm torn between 'ban' and 'don't like but a ban is the wrong approach'. I definitely want them gone.

Also, certain muslim groups/countries hate the west. This would add fuel to the fire

and?.. in a reasonably "liberal" society, why should we tolerate other intolerances. We shouldnt pander to strict islamic countries because it's their religeon, i'm sick of people being scared of offending islam. I respect muslims, more so than the vast majority of christians that are around, due to their dedication to their religeon (christianity has become a joke, changing far too much with the time, the old "well we live in different times", we don't live in different times; corruption, prositution and bad values are as old as civilisation. It's just a poor excuse, however this is not an islamic country, they should respect our values, we should not pander to their intolerance.

- a ban is extreme, but i don't see how there would be any other way of stopping this.

Well if the don says so :p.
The two on the right make it very hard to indentify the person in question and so hence if for example a bank robbery happened and the people where using burkas (Which has happened in france..) then they would almost certainly be impossible to indentify.

This as well..

And this :p

What about the right to remain anonymous? This is something I always want to uphold. We are all our own person. No one owns us. Why the **** should the Government or anyone else tell us what we can and cannot do/ wear? Ok I don't like them, but that's no reason to ban the,.

1. Muslim women wear the veil out of choice, it is not forced on them.

You are wrong. Some Muslim women wear it out of choice. Some are pushed into it by social pressure. Some are coerced into it. Some are outright forced into it.

2. You should be allowed to wear what you like- why don't you ask all Sikhs to not wear turbans, nuns to not wear scarfs, gangsters to not wear hoodies..

Covering your face has particular connotations that the examples you give do not.

You see where this is going... you are specifically targeting and further alienating muslim women

Now you are contradicting yourself. If you really believe that all Muslim women who wear the veil do so from free choice (which is wrong, but it's what you're arguing), then you believe that they are specifically targetting and further alienating themselves. Alienation from society is what completely concealing yourself is for, especially your face. According to your argument, they want to be alienated from society and freely choose to be so, to the extent of explicitly and physically seperating themselves from society.

Besides, it's inherently sexist and insulting. Against both sexes. I'll ignore anyone dressed like that unless they're asking for my help.

I really don't understand why it bothers people so much.
secondly because I find it rude that someone covers up their face when you're speaking to them
How is it rude?
