*** The all new iPhone 4 thread - Keep all iPhone 4 stuff in here ***

Can't believe it takes Apple 3 weeks to make and deliver a product. A company that big, it's ridiculous. There must be a SERIOUS hardware fault.

so they made the signal bars slightly taller and presumably change the way the phone calculates the signal strength.

My phone was delivered today direct from Apple. Five days earlier than the original estimated delivery time :)

First impressions are good. But as this is my first iPhone or indeed smart phone It'll take a while to form a proper judgement.

iPhone 4 recall?

So the iPhone 4 received a bad review from the US watchdog Consumer Reports, this led to a drop in share price of Apple as a company (though the share price went back up within 24 hours).

I'm due and upgrade from T-mobile next month and I really wanted to get myself an iPhone 4. These issues that are being reported are putting me off. So I ask all iPhone 4 owners out there to read this telegraph report and to answer me this one question...

...from your own PERSONAL experience using the phone, is there any truth to this antenna issue or is it ll being blown out of proportion to create sensationalist new headlines?

It does happen.

I've only used it out of the case a few times and haven't dropped a call from it, BUT if I have it out of the case and hold it in my left hand it will eventually lose signal entirely after a short while. I have no doubt that if I didn't use a case ever it would drive me mental. We're not talking minutes, we're talking around 30 seconds and it's gone.

On the one hand it doesn't affect me at all because I use a case, but on the other it's absolutely not good enough.

Their handling of the issue so far has ranged from bad to embarrassing, in my opinion.

I got an iPhone 4 on the day of the release and yes there is definitely an antenna problem when you hold the bottom left corner

I don't own one yet, but my original 3G 18 month contract was up a while ago. My advice is wait it out and see what happens, which is what I'm doing. Do you HAVE to have it the second your contract is up? As you may as well see if future ones have the problem amended.

hopefully out for delivery today, doesnt quite say

The antenna issue does exist on all handsets, it is there. However, in some places I cannot get even 1 bar to drop, in other places I can get it to drop 4-5 bars. The thing is, it never happens when I am holding it naturally, nor when I am browsing the web. If I hadn't have known there was an issue, I would never have even realised. BTW I don't use a case on mine and I've never dropped a call or anything. I am finding overall the reception is better then on my old 3G.
