***Official Left 4 Dead 2 Thread***

Anyone had any problems where the game crashes on certain campaigns? For me it crashes in dead center every time without fail, I can't play it at all. Other campaigns are totally fine though, I verified cache, I re-installed, I lowered my game settings, i deleted my maps folder and re-downloaded all the maps. I still get exactly the same thing. No error reports, just crashes to desktop, started after the latest L4D2 update (The mutation).

Latest blog and update from Valve:

Valve said:
Today’s update covers quite a few subjects so we thought we should touch on a few of them.

When we did our blog poll on rage quitting we mentioned we would be working on some of the underlying issues. Left 4 Dead 2 doesn’t have a more rage or less rage button – well not directly…

We checked some stats, did some testing, checked more stats, and did more testing. We have many more changes we are working on, some ideas failed, some were exploitable, and some were just bad ideas. What we are releasing today is not the sum of our answer to the problem but simply some of the updates that are ready to ship. More are coming.

While we were testing other changes with the Charger, we were bothered that doing the right thing did not give you the best score. New players were often confused by this lack of feedback, so we fixed that.
Charger now receives 300 points for any Survivor that is insta-killed.
Charger now receives 100 points for any Survivor that is insta-incapped by a charge.
Any infected that causes a Survivor to stumble into a "ledge hang" situation will receive 50 points.

Friendly fire is never fun, especially when it really isn’t friendly fire. So in both Versus and Co-op we wanted to remove those times when you receive a friendly fire warning for shooting through an infected.
Bullets that first pass through an infected character before striking a Survivor are now ignored as friendly fire.

Failing at the Tank is miserable experience. We all know the feeling when you are trying to explain to your team - but he was already on fire! So we did some work there.
Tanks go into a stasis when they spawn and leave stasis when the human player takes over.
Tanks do not attack when they are in stasis.
Tanks in stasis are invisible but still show a glow to the infected team.
Tanks in stasis cannot be set on fire.

The updates aren't over and you should expect to see some more shortly. As for the blog, besides the regular Friday update, next week we will be going into details on the Mutations, why Realism Versus was made permanent and other Mutations have not been. Plus what gets played more - Versus, Co-op, Survival, Single Player, or Scavenge?

Some nice tweaks which really should have been made a long time ago.

I really don't understand why people don't use a shotgun or the scope assault rifle in the games i play, they're full of win and decimate the zombies a lot faster than any other weapon i've encountered recently.

Hi Guys.

I still need the achievement for completing Dead Center on Expert. Never seems to be any campaigns going on that one whenever I check (and don't want to play with bots). Any chance of some of you lot could add me to steam to help me get it please. Steam ID is zdtbird.

Thanks.

People do. There is a time and a place to use said guns though. It pretty pointless using a scope rifle in a shopping mall, but in very open areas such as swamp fever, it can prove essential.

Same goes with the shotty. It's best used in smaller spaces such as dead centre.

It's never ideal if everyone is carrying the same weapon.

Has anyone else played the latest mutation: gib fest - unlimited M60s?

I completed the two expert campaigns that I hadn't done using bots (dark carnival and swamp fever). I feel kind of dirty now :( It's just so rediculously overpowered...

And steam went down, on the one late night gaming session that would actually be nice to have, consdiering I have to go be a taxi in 2 hrs :(

Thanks Valve.

Oh well, suppose I can always watch Heroes or play RA...

You heard it first here, a new L4D1 and L4D2 official Valve expansion coming out!! :D:D:D

THE SACRIFICE

Valve revealed today The Sacrifice, a new expansion for the Left 4 Dead series that will be compatible with both the first and second games in the series.

Along with this new chapter in the zombie survival saga, No Mercy - the hospital campaign from the first Left 4 Dead - will be updated and included for Left 4 Dead 2 players, who can then play through both these campaigns with the second game's weapons (those with only Left 4 Dead 1 will only have the first game's weapons).

The Sacrifice tells the story of the last Left 4 Dead 2 expansion, The Passing, from the perspective of the original game's cast. You'll find out how they managed to meet up with Left 4 Dead 2's cast, and at the end, will be able to choose for yourself which of the original cast dies (hence the expansion's name), rather than Valve simply pencilling it in.

The expansion is designed to work with both Left 4 Dead games, so if you've only got one of them, it doesn't matter, you'll be able to download and play this. The only difference will be those playing using Left 4 Dead 2 will get more weapons and the sequel's unique zombies.

A digital comic will begin next month to get everybody up to speed on the events of the campaign. The Sacrifice will be released as free DLC for the PC and Mac, while it will be a paid downloadable for the Xbox 360.

This was all revealed on the latest issue of GameTrailers TV; once videos are online we'll update and include them.

Played it briefly, not had L4D2 long - yes, theyre stupidly overpowered but was good for a laugh :D

LMOE is damn easy, just listen out for the SI sounds and plan a method of beating them. Kill everything and run for 20s+ until they respawn again. You can complete the entire campaign with less than 20 kills and full health on expert.

Would be nice to get some 8 player friends only games going guys like old times. Every time i look, it's the same 4 players playing. Don't you guys ever think of inviting more 'mates', instead of playing against 4 pubs?

Every time I try it though I don't get enough people joining. L4D1 on the other hand...

That's why I tend to host more L4D1 VS games than L4D2. :p

well if you play against 4 other ocukers people tend to want random teams which after you've been playing with a regular 4 for a while isn't as fun.

the team work when you're used to each other is great and tbh is the best part of the game I think.

that and you don't feel bad about raping people in team versus, it's always fun to beat a clan :p

I've never felt the need to 'get used' to other team mates to be honest. As long as my team mates are good, and we beat the other team, i'm happy.

IMO, being used to them is nothing to do with making it more fun. I think it's lame if you can't play properly or have less fun unless him, him and him is on your team.

I don't think it's all about pulling off perfect attack after perfect attack , completely raping the other team into submission. I've found with team vs, it often ends in wasted time due to them ragin.
