***Official Left 4 Dead 2 Thread***

oh, I just had some good fun playing pub...

my team left me for dead at the tank on dead centre 1, managed to solo the thing while they all got killed :) nearly made it to safe room on my own.

we then managed a 2 smoke charges out of windows against them with absolutely no communication.

the other team raged on us after we walked through the next map though :(

Pub games can be quite fun in my experience, usually having at least one friend ingame helps though. Also helps if the other team doesn't rage...

Insanity Versus returns to L4D2 as now I've been bothered about fixing the thing!

Changes:

A little toned down in many ways from last time, but still designed to make things more fun than regular versus. The IP is the same as it was before I disabled it: 217.163.30.155:27015

Change List:

Insanity Versus:

General:
-Scoring Bonuses Changed
-Medkits Removed

Survivors:
-Survivors now revive and heal faster
-Fire does 75% of expert damage
-Now have more health on revival

Infected:
-Ghost speed Increased
-Witch has 1.5x health, angers easier, moves faster and does more damage
-Boomer Vomit delay removed, can vomit when moving & claw does more damage
-Smoker tongue range increased slightly, has more health and drags faster
-Hunter claw does more damage, Maxium hunters at a time is now 2
-Tanks take longer to Burn, remain stunned for less time, health changed
-2 tanks now appear at finale at a time

Let me know if you are interested in playing and I will arrange an event for tonight. :)

Just thought i'd play left 4 dead 2 for the first time , even though it's been sat in steam for ages but things are strange.

Sometimes when i click the mouse button for an infected attack even though the action bar is full there is a huge delay. For example i went to pounce and for upto 4secs it wasn't even responding. Never had this problem with left 4 dead 1 , i could pounce of wall after wall but not this!. Even with other infected there is a huge delay between click and response , This isn't a problem as the survivor :(.

I also noticed at times the sound went very quiet as i played the infected and the action heated up.

AHHH this game gets on my **** , found a server and some ****/indian was talking telling people to "GO outside".. "Go outside". So i did and i got myself knocked down the instant i walked out the door. Dragged into the toilets , the ****/indian goes " where are you ? , where are you ". "TOILETS" i type , again "TOILETS".

VoteKick "Neil" , "You are new"... "sorry , you are new" he says.

I said i was in the toilets and it was his fault i died , "you have been kicked"

****...indian...**** , why is it that the instant i run into a pakistani/indian i end up getting wound up in life or internet

NERD RAGE GRRRRRRR BLEEP!

EDIT : Note to self , turn off mic sounds ahhhhhhh and breath lol

I'm having the same problem. No common denominator as regards nationalities, though.

I have been vote-kicked several times in the middle of a game. I can usually think, yeah, I mucked up a couple of times, harsh though, but the last time was a complete mystery. I was even talking and commending people on good moves (I appreciate a good Doomer) and all was good, and then, despite the fact we were winning (we had won the first round, and I had scored well in it), I got vote kicked.

I was a Spitter, and I'd tried some spit sniping that hadn't come off. Is there some sort of score-per-player that can appear on screen while the game is playing so people can see how badly you were doing?

I usually assume that people had a friend they wanted to join in, and so they kick a stranger (Internet Rule 1: Always assume good faith), but this was a 3v3.

There were people like that in the last game I played. Getting all annoyed, even though they seriously needed to take their own advice. It was getting late and I needed sleep, so I got behind them all while they were fighting a load of zombies and set them all on fire. It was on hardest difficulty, so they all died. I enjoyed it.

On the whole though the community seem pretty decent and it is great fun when you actually find a good team.

Forgot there must be a new mutation this week. Must remember to check it out!

I never grief bad teams, and only vote-kicked someone once, and that was after several warnings (probably someone trying Expert for the first time, but his FF got too much). I've only once shot a player, and (s?)he was griefing me and incapped me and the two bots, but inexplicably got me up again. I stood watching him run off to a petrol can and he picked it up. I promptly shot the can, he went up in flames, and quit.

Agreed that mostly people are okay, but games like Versus and Scavenge are a bit more fraught, and appeal to people who are more serious and competitive about their L4D2 games.

Can you see your teammates' versus/scavenge scores in-game in real time?

In defence of confogl.

Tank spawns are Identical for both teams. In vanilla one team can get a tank just before the event, the other, during the event. If the scond team wipes because of that event tank and the other team doesnt. Is that fair?

A tank on every map! that's just plain fun. It's weird not having one.

ak47s and auto snipers are over-powered! In most situations a tank will die before it reaches the survivors. It's not just the damage per shot, but also the effective range of those guns that make them so bad.

The vanilla scoring system doesn't reflect how well a team is doing. If a team makes it to the safe room after taking 0 damage and the other team crawls in b&w on 1hp- is 25 extra points a fair reward for their superioity?

In the ESL when the old ladder was running vanilla, the best teams started to refuse to play. Because on vanilla, even retards stand a chance against the best. One lucky death charge, or even a glitch that gets a survivor killed, makes it impossible to catch up those lost distance points with amazing amounts of infected damage. Especially when any good attack is wiped out with medkits/more medkits and defibs.

Confogl teams that play team versus are frowned upon. Most don't do it unless they are in random mixes with friends of friends or simply new to the game.

You guys (tefal/link etc) are good! You have absolutley no excuse to be playing vanilla and bashing the children and girls that play it. Grow some balls and play the more competitve config!

Also teir 1 guns are brilliant. You can skeet hunters from halfway across the map with both uzi's. Shotguns still skeet just like in l4d1, if anything the chrome can skeet hunters at a greater distance than the l4d1 pump. And the Hunting Rifle is still the source of half the competitve communities fustration. Its stupidly powerful can shoot from parish 1 to clear a smoker dead center 3. And you barely have to stop to make it pinpoint accurate.

We don't play vanilla, we play Ellus config.

Which is harder than cofogl, no pills in the med cabinets and fire will hurt you if you try to throw one at your feet to burn a horde ;)

Confogl is basically crawl forward...get hit..take one of billion pills on the level..crawl forward..get hit..nom some more pills... etc.

So boring playing them, much prefer the rush based config.

Confogl is bias towards nerfing survivors to make up for poor infected skill.

I'm sorry, but all confogl does is buff the infected and nerf the survivors. We rape people on confogl. Identical tank spawns, tank + witch on every map are all good changes, and they're on my custom cfg server (which I need to tweak again, it's getting a bit silly)

aks and auto-snipes are easy to counter with a good attack, distract the survivors long enough with the other SI and you can get an incap easily and a kill if you do well. It's the same with the T1 guns. They can rip through a tank in nearly the same time at close range.

confogl would be fine if it actually balanced it, instead of making it easier for a bad infected team. The only balance it gives compared to my config is a **** ton of pills, seriously, kits take time to use, and you can get a good amount of damage in on a team while they're trying to heal. with pills you just throw them down and keep running.

but oh well, you keep playing confogl, we'll have fun being good as infected
