New PC Build - Help Needed

what did that Zalman Z7 do to you, to deserve that?

it was delivered to me :D just goes to show dont use cheap spray paint lol iam not botherd in the end as it was a free paint job (got a refund) and i think it looks rather unique lol but kidding aside good case and cable managment was obnly pooer because i've useed a none modular psu and 6 hdds and 1 ide odd with the spec above he would only have 2 hdds 1 odd all sata and a modular psu so should look very neat

So I updated the build with the 21.5" Benq's which brings the system under budget.
Anyone have any idea of what I could upgrade or add to give a little bit more performance?

2x 470's because at 1080 the extra ram on 480 will be wasted if you plan to game and it should get you a lot more power overall running at that res

Ok thanks, I think I'll goo for that option then. Anyone have any links to performance comparisons between the 1x480 and the 2x470?

EDIT: Does the 2xGTX 470's mean it will be in SLi?
Also, does having two GPU's mean that you can theoretically have four monitors connected?

sweet you'll have to do a build log when you've got the parts

Yeah I will do.
I've decided against getting the mouse and speakers as I have a mouse and I can just get a splitter for my Z5500's so that's saving over £100 for something aimed more towards performance.

I have opted for one GTX 480 instead of two 470's as I can get another 480 at a later date if I feel I need/want one.

Below is my current basket. I also changed the RAM to the 6GB Corsair Dominator GT. Is this a better decision? Will they be compatible with the motherboard?

Is there anything else I should upgrade?

EDIT: I have now added the Intel Core i7 950 instead of the 930, would it be a good idea to get the 1000w PSU or will the 850w still be fine?

no that a bit off a waste as i bought some 1866 ram for mine but running at 200blck x 20 (or 21 with the turbo feature) you will get 4ghz (or 4.2ghz the turbo feature) which makes my ram run at 1600mhz to be honest the only really reason to get that ram if if you gettin a good chip which you know is going to go higher than 4.2ghz and if your going to do that you might want a better mobo somint like the Rampage III as that is a getting constaint high blck and you will defo need to water cool with heat it will produce and i dont mean the h-50 or the eco as i have heaqrd they struggle wich clocks higher than 4.2

cut a long storry short why waste an extra £200-£300 on better mobo, cherry picked cpu, high spec ram, and good cooling when the ram at 1600mhz has more memory bandwidth then you use with it being tri-channel and a possible 4.5ghz clock when in the really world the only thing that extra 300mhz will change is your e-slong

oh and btw by the time you want to upgrade the 470'2 there will be much better tech out there insted off going for 480 sli as they are very power hungery in sli and iam betting the the 470 will be sort after card and hold its price well as many people will want to get these for sli in a year or two as they scale so well and are nowhere near as hot or as power hungery its like i've just picked up a 4870x2 for a little over £100 (which is 5870 perfromance on DX10) just because its a very hot and power hungry card it might just be something to think about

Thanks for that. I'm going to order the parts today.
I will post up one more image of my final basket and see what everyone thinks.
I will go with what you have said and get two 470's and the Corsair ram.
Should I also stick with the 930 CPU?

Thanks,
Hixxey

OK so here is my final basket (I think)
Should I add a sound card to that and if so which one?

EDIT: Just noticed the Kyeboard and RAM are out of stock. What alternative RAM could I have?

Thank You,

yer i would stick with the 930 as for £20 your only gettin 23x multi vs 21x multi and like i said would only be woth it if you go for extreme overclocking 4.2+

and it depends what speakers you've got i read that you've got some z5500 logitechs correct me if iam wrong but there the wired 550w thx set arnt they ? personally yes i would for such high end speakers as i would never think about using my s750 which are the creative thx set with out a good sound card as it really does show you how good and presice the speaker sets are

Edit: ram and today only i would get these http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-008-PA&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1389 as a lot off people on her swear by them from what ive seen and will look really good on that gigabyte board

Thanks I'll try and find a sound card. How long do you think the order will be delayed if parts are out of stock such as the RAM?
