For those who don't have a work-stand Lidl are doing one for £29.99 in stores from 27.09.10

Looks good for the money, No Lidl in York though yet ! :D

Canock is pretty decent.
A 13 mile marked XC loop, loads more off piste stuff, some DH runs and a camp site in the middle of it all.

Was at Ashton Court again today and met a nutter on a singlespeed going the opposite way to the signed route, ie uphill most of the way! Dunno how they do it, I'm knackered enough with all my gears :p Got 3 complements on my bike though which is nice :D

really looking to order tomorrow or friday..

is this a good quality lock?

Halfords do a Magnum Plus Mini Shackle D lock, its great.
Good think about small D-locks is that its so hard have to get any leverage if your trying to break them or stick a bottle jack in them.

Your more likely to twist the frame on the bike.
I didn't pay anywhere near the £47 they're no selling them for. I think I paid £29.

Are we keeping anything to do with racing and road bikes in this thread these days, and keeping this one for off-road bikes?

Got another new racer to post up but don't know where to put it now :p

Yeah keep your skinny bikes other there please :p It could really do with a tidy up around here, maybe the formation of two new threads

Big MTB thread & Big roadie thread

and put the current two to bed.

Getting to that time of year where I'm starting to look for some tyres for winter.

What DH winter tyres would people recommend, currently running Minions on front and back...

Me again :D

Finally sorted the headset.

Few more questions.....Ive just replaced my chain with a KMC X9L gold chain but im now finding when i pedal hard i get a clunk as if something slipping:confused: and also going over rough terrain the bike changes gear on its own.

Does anyone have any idea as to what could be the problem?

Also can anyone recommend me some decent cheap all round tyres?

I'm currently using specialized's own Dual compound Eskars 26 x2.30...which im thinking of going for again but confused on whats the difference between the compounds

My main playground is cannock chase ,so nothing to extreme:)

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks

You've just put a new chain on old (likely worn) drivetrain (chainrings, cassette), it's likely that the combination of new/worn stuff is causing the skipping.

You should inspect your chainrings and cassette for signs of hooking on the teeth, if they look like shark's fins then they're hooked (worn).

I replaced my chain and cassette at christmas and had the exact same problem, upon inspecting my chainrings I noticed they were heavily worn, new ones and everything was fine :)

Could be the cassette. I had the same problem when I fitted a new chain. Ended up changing the whole lot, the cassette, jockey wheels and chainrings :p
