I've given up, in comparison to FO3 I found it to be lacking something leaving it to be quite a tedious and boring experience.

How far into the game did you get?

I found it quite boring until I reached the strip and was bombarded with quests from all directions

Now I just need some cave fungus and a Pile of Night stalker eggs, haven't found neither yet. Might get lucky I suppose...

For Nightstalker eggs, check the cave near the Super Mutant village (can't remember the name, but it's West of the Strip, up in the mountains) or the Box Cavern on the left on the road between Nipton and Novac - both crammed full of Nightstalkers.

I'm sick of the combat, bit bored of going back wards while loads of enemy NPC's chase me and I unload guns worth after guns worth of ammo on them
