Need for Speed Hot Pursuit

I got the game but am experiencing the well documented (in EA forums) quad core bug.... But dirtydog i see your playing it on the q6600, your one of the lucky few then i would say because it crashes on my q6600.

Well back to TDU then.

Yeah not one crash in over ten hours - I wonder what the reason is. Is Windows XP the factor?

Did you try turning off UAC? Apparently that works for some people. Once you've run the game once with UAC off, you can re-enable it again.

Thanks for the update mate but turning of UAC was the first thing i did when i installed windows 7 lol.

EDIT:
It does seem to be quads on vista/win7 no mention of problems on XP

Strange cause it works fine on i7's with Vista like I'm using which is double the cores.

I was getting crashing but then took off the overclocked settings on my gfx card and no crashing since :) Since then i've been increasing the cards setting and using nfs to test it :)

People have been saying it works fine on on i3,i5 and i7's but the problem is core 2 quad's on vista/win7. Seriously though EA/criterion really don't care now that they got our monies, on the EA forums there is a load of threads about it.

I have to say I'm running system with core 2 quad as per sig. Runs a treat on w7 64bit

I just managed to do a race by putting the settings to balanced in ccc and only running it on core 2 and 3 haaha. Shame it then crashed after that race :(

running it on 2180 @ 3.2 4850 soon to be a 5870! all max at 1080 res and it runs fine! cant wait to get my 5870 and crack the AA up!

Can one of you guys do me a favour please... I have a dual core Core 2 Duo overclocked at 3.2Ghz. Game runs ok, but I see frame rate drops to around 30fps or sometimes less.. Can someone with a quad core (preferrably the core 2 quad generation) clocked around 3Ghz, go into the affinity of the .exe and just set it to say core0 and core1 (removing affinity from core2 & core3) and tell me what performance is like compared to having affinity on all 4 cores... ?

I just need to know if its a cpu or gpu limitation I have or maybe a game issue.

I'm running graphics at 1920x1200 , high res textures, af on and motion blur on. Even if i drop resolution to say 1440x900 and take off high res textures, af and motion blur it makes hardly any difference hence i suspect cpu limits.

Thanks,

Right I've just done this :) I have a Q6600 at 3.0GHz.

I drove one of the time trial preview races where it was raining and recorded the fps with fraps.

All 4 cores:
Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
6045, 102022, 44, 62, 59.252

Just cores 0 and 1 (2 and 3 disabled):
Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
6043, 102803, 32, 62, 58.782

Subjectively it didn't seem any different with just two cores, even though the minimum framerate was recorded lower.

If there is a particularly demanding race in the career mode where your framerate slows down badly, tell me which one and I'll try it on my system if you like.
