ATI cuts 6950 allocation

thats a big change of heart for you?

I think these cards are only worth it in x-fire.

If your going single. A £250 for a cool and quiet 570GTX are far more appealing.

I think this will be a painful learning experience for AMD. Since the release of 5800 series, Nvidia had to play the underdog. Even couple of months after 5800 release, there was already talk of 6000 series cards and people felt that Nvidia will be doing badly in the market. But now after all this time it seems Nvidia will be taking the crown back for faster cards (although consuming more power:p). You can beat Nvidia down but you can't destroy it.

The problem with a 6970 been 260-280 is the whole line would need to take a price drop, in rough we already have this

6850 = 150.00
6870 = 200.00

So where would this go?

6950 =220.00??
6970 =260.00??

They are far to near to each other, we still dont have firm speed in the real world, i would guess, come wednesday we will be seeing something like this.

6850 = 150.00
6870 = 200.00
6950 = 265.00
6970 = 325.00

Well for one, 6850s and 6870s aren't supposed to be £150 and £200, they're supposed to be (and be found for) £130 and £170.

3dm11 : 5345 around 8% higher than the German forum but this could be due to the i7. Still Cat 10.11s

nvidia have had the fastest single GPU for a long time, so if this turns out the same it is no different.
2900 vs 8800 ?
3870 vs 9800 ?
4870 vs 280
4890 vs 285
