ATI cuts 6950 allocation

but all the other benches youve seen appart from the ones here of heaven has been from that german guy ducati and his m8 harry...
The Heaven benches posted here which have been sanctioned by AMD show 10% slower performance than GTX580. Now, would AMD sanction benches that makes it's cards look good, or which make them look bad? It is a pretty safe bet that 6900 will be consistently slower than GTX580, by a margin greater than what is seen within Heaven.

Also, 6900 will be very unlikely to overclock anywhere near as well as GTX580, making it even slower for many people here.

do you think the OP had to 'go out' before peeps asked him to run other benches that would make it look worse? :o

and I thought that I was the only cynic here.

Am I the only one who thinks GTX570/580 prices will be raised to match Cayman performance, rather than the other way around?

Definitely not the only one thinking that.

I think nVidia screwed up by not pushing the 570 out at £250 even if they didn't make off it and had to jack the prices up after Christmas, they'd have cleaned up for Christmas stealing AMD's launch thunder at the same time.

raven you crack me up. From 30-40% quoted for launch, to it was xfire results.

well i gotta give you props on taking it like a man and owning up to being wrong rather than ignoring it.

but, doesn't the 6870 cf already hit above 40% faster than the GTX580?

Depends on the game and the 69** cards do not appear to be much faster than the 68** cards in certain games.

i wonder now much 2 will cost ? hmmm

http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer...D+Catalyst+update+upgrades+the+user+interface

A CONTROL CENTRE for AMD's Radeon driver software suite called Catalyst is available in beta format for those downloading the 10.12 version that is available today.

The Catalyst Control Center (CCC) provides a user interface for Catalyst with a more web browser look and feel. While the beta is out now, the final version of the control centre and its upgraded user interface will be available early next year.

The control centre moves away from looking like the Windows control panel of old and it has a navigation bar, search engine and "pinned pages". The pinned pages feature allows elements of the CCC to be relocated to what is essentially the homepage to make them easier to access.

AMD also promises continued improvements to the control centre with future updates. To help with this it will have a CCC forum for user feedback.

This continuous improvement is linked to the other big change promoted by AMD, its Catalyst Application Profiles update frequency. They will be weekly from version 10.12. The company says this is to ensure that everyone has the latest updates when playing the most recent games.

AMD claims 100 per cent stability for the software suite of drivers compared to only 85 per cent for Nvidia, citing what it calls an independent test by third party Round Rock, Texas based Perseus Labs. Independent in that Perseus Labs isn't owned by AMD rather than that Chimpzilla hasn't paid it

AMD updates going weekly, a good thing?

Getting it right once a month and staying on top of big game releases would work better than a forced weekly update schedule... again its just politics from AMD as it makes a good sound bite.
