Your Top 3 images of the year

Great thread idea by the way, and some lovely shots. My favourites will be of my daughter so I won't bore you all with those :D I'll have a look through some other stuff to see what I can find.

Amazing photo. :)

Loving those three too Ray!!

That night, we headed to the Eiffel Tower, the weather was still appalling and it was a case of take the shot, wipe your lens clean of water, take another shot. Got off the coach and looked up, I would have loved to get another leg in on the right, but trees obstructed the view.

Spooky, I've got an almost identical shot to that, but of Tokyo Tower!

My first venture into photography with my own equipment started with this;

Then I managed to go abroad with my camera :D

My favourite three of the year.

This shot of a baby Chimpanzee was taken at Chester Zoo. It was the first time since the end of the winter that the Chimps had been let out. I got talking to one of the Keepers and they told me they keep them in during the cold weather since the moat surrounding their enclosure freezes and they will simply walk over the ice. Normally they're scared of deep water. The mother was very protective of her baby since all of the other adults were going nuts. Then slowly as they all calmed down she let this little one go and he/she began exploring very hesitantly.

I just like this one for its simplicity.

This was taken a few weeks ago on a very cold Fairbourne Beach in North Wales. It is on the other side of the Mawddach estuary from Barmouth. The sun had dropped below the horizon and what had been a blaze of orange and red a few minutes previously turned into all the blues you can see in the picture. I've had it blown up to a 30' by 20' canvas (first one I've had done of my own shots) and it looks amazing on the wall.

Quite difficult this, I've gone for shots which mean more to me, either through the taking of the shot or subsequent emotional response. (and I've steered clear of pictures of just my daughter!)

I really enjoyed getting this shot. It was the first time I used off camera flash in any real creative sense and involved the dismantling of my from room to no small degree! It almost came out exactly as I wanted it as well, not quite, but nearly:

This one I really like personally, even though it suffers badly from sun glare. It was also picked up by the wife of the player who had some very nice things to say about it, which made my day:

This one I just enjoy, it's my family :) I was worried at the time it wouldn't come out as wanted, as it was handheld at lower shutter speed than ideal, but it came out okay:

Can you tell I like black and white? :D

brill pictures everyone, heres 3 from me,

i got this shot on an overcast dull day at the national arbouretum. This chap was the marching band leader and he wandered over to the memorial for just a moment so i was pleased i got the shot

with this pic i wanted to get the impression of movement in the image, i used a combination of panning, relativley slow shutter speed and flash.

All taken on a D3100 with the kit lens (I've had the camera just over a month)! I wouldn't say any of the pictures are technically good but I was quite chuffed with them. :D

My mum loves flowers and wanted me to take a few pictures of some new ones she bought, just before they opened.

These two were taken at the student protest on the the 24th of november. It was the first time I took the camera out of the house and i was quite impressed with some of the results.

La Grande Arche, Paris.
I've always wanted to do a shot like that: architectural, zoomed in, abstract. It's very specific and not arty at all though.

Under the Millenium Bridge along the South Bank of the Thames.
Inspired by another poster on here, I tried to replicate it and was really pleased with the way it came out.

There's something about this candid that makes me smile - I think it's the warmth, colours, bokeh and the fact that the boy is completely captivated by the paper dragon.

Three of my faves from this year, busy busy wedding season, and looking to be even busier next year, so many lovely couples!
