Fallout: New Vegas

I'm playout fallout 3 for the first and get random freezes. Sometimes when I open a door it freezes or when I open a chest it freezes but it only happens every now and then, its very annoying. I was worried it was my new pc but after reading that I'm guessing its the game engine

Its the game, Fall out 3 and New Vegas. Super dupper buggy!

I have a question about skill points.

At the very beginning of the game, weapon wise, your pretty much left to fight with guns, so I'v been lvl after lvl putting my points in to guns. Now Im lvl 11 and I have 75 in guns....

Im not sure what to do, continue putting as much in to guns as possible as they are my main offense (playing game one lvl below the most difficult - so its tough) or should I distribute to energy weapons now?

I'v got loads of energy weapons and ammo, but never spent a point, so only got 17 for energy weapons.

Can you only go up to 100 in any skill? Or over 100?

So far I'v mainly put points in to Guns, lockpicking (55), medicine and repairs.

But recently I'v put a little in to science as well (25).

Any ideas?

Keep Guns skill at 75, it is high enough for most guns and you can find skillbooks that raise the skill +3 (or +4 with a perk)

Also I would suggest to raise Speech skill some, in a lot of quests that gives you options to skip tedious parts or give you better options.

Medicine is useless unless you play on Hardcore mode, only raise Energy Wepons if you want to use Energy wespons, I started raising it at level 18 and when that was >50 I started using a Gauss Rifle which is great.

Lol, check out this chappy. Found in the Fire Root Cavern...

Playing the game on the level below the toughest.

Its pretty hard. A few times now after big fights, amour wrecked and low on ammo, I end up getting swipped by a little mantis and die!

I'v played about 22 hours ish.... game is massive! Massive in the sense that there are so many twists and tunrns, that you would have to go in to an area two or three times to explore all the nocks and grannies...

Struggle on the amour department tho. Im weary only reinforced leather amour, which is badly degraded, and cant find anywhere to buy more leather amour to fix it. I'v also got some metal amour, but again, badly depleted and need to find some more to buy.

Also caps. I'v got about 2000 caps, and just went to the Gun Runners and there equipment is so expensive at least 3-4k worth of caps. I take it at some point in the game, Im going to get rich from something?

Vegas? Quests start giving more caps..... difficulty level maybe making things more scarce..... anyway this game is better than Fallout 3.

Particualy in Fallout 3, there are ruins around the place, but they are unnamed, or sparsly populated and the loot is just caps and ammo.

In this game, you have ruins which appear as places on the map, there are people there, you have sewers to explore (Thorn) etc... game is just more populated...

Also I like the fact we can go up to lvl 30 now. That must mean the game is huge! Im only lvl 12 and 22 hours in. Furthest I'v got is vault 22.

I came accross a boy who had a gun that was a rocket..... I tried pickpocketing it from him but sneak lvl isnt high enough. Probably could have killed the little brat, but I let him have it.

Is the gun worth killing the little critter over....?

Only if you've finished the Helios One quest line in a certain way, without that it's useless to you.

In terms of caps, basically you can do a few things, play Caravan, steal everything not nailed down, pick up and sell everything you find or magic some into existence.

I don't include gambling which is technically a good way of getting caps because you really have to cheat to make it effective.

Armor, you have to work your way up, generally raiders wear a lot of leather armor, then there is Caesar's Legion who wear their own armor which is also pretty good however they are pretty hard to kill early game, later on when you get a decent stock pile of caps it becomes pretty easy to get it vendor repaired. Best armor available early game is NCR trooper gear, fairly easy to find as well, there is a set in the unoccupied tent in their camp in Primm, you have to steal it but hey, no ones in the tent.

I gambled in the Atomic Wrangler at the slot machines, reloading if I did not win anything and half an hour later I hit the jackpot and left the Atomic Wrangler with 33k of caps in my pocket :)

Is there any graphical mods or anything to make the graphics better or an ultra config?

there are some things you can put in the console and there are texture mods but that's about it.

On another note, where does everyone think the next Fallout will be based at?

My guess would be around Boston because of the Institute and because Crysis 2 already has New York covered

Anybody else think there is something missing with New Vegas compared to Fallout 3?
Not sure if its big central settlements or the fact that New Vegas seems quite quiet in comparison.

Ive racked up 136 hours according to steam with 2 play throughs including a lot of mods and it still feels like somethings missing :p

Yes, I miss hubs like Megaton and Rivet City.

At first I thought The Strip would be massive but after seeing it I was dissapointed.

Never mind though, still a good game but it feels more like a huge add-on than a full game.

This game is huge!

Far bigger than Fall out 3.

What I like aboutthis game, is that they have put just as much effort in to just exploring the waste land as they have in to the main story line.

You'v got locations not on the map, you'v got caves, you'v got under water locations, so many twists and turns, and even quests to do, just by chance.

In Fall out 3 all I found my self doing was finding abandoned building with caps and ammo in it, nothing else....

I'v clocked up 47 hours so far..... Dragons age took me 65 hours and that was over three months.... this has only been 1 week!

Performance is horrendous however.... No crashes today, but had a few hick ups yesterday.
