The New Stargate Universe Thread

BSG was awesome, I only managed to watch it this summer for the first time and I loved it.

I'm dissapointed that SGU was cancelled because I really liked the dark, moody atmosphere. I tried watching Atlantis but found it a bit too cheesy and humerous.

it didn't have a dark moody atmosphere it had a teen melodrama dragged out over twice it's designed time limit atmosphere.

SGU was trying and failing to be BSG

And while BSG was an awesome show, SG1 was always (until the last few seasons) the better show ... so replicating SG1 would have been better than replicating BSG

SG1 went wrong not with their writing, the stories were still awesome, but with their casting. Browder and Black were crap in Firefly, and were equally crap in SG1. I'm not sure if Bridges got the general character either

The problem with sg1 was it went too jokey towards the end and it really hurt the dramatic angle of the show, Browder and Black were terrible for this :(

this absolutely sucks, the mid season 2 was really really good and yet again another Sci-fi goes down the toilet, why do they insist on canning everything.

Is it really so bad for them these days that they can't get a series to last through more than 2 seasons before t gets chopped.

Plus Browder and Black could not pull off the funny bits as well as RDA could

no it was above average the rest of the series was **** with nothing of note hapening it was almost as if we were watching big brother in real time in a spaceship setting.....

For me, the 2nd half of Season1 was great.
They ended last season on a great cliff hanger, which lead nowhere and was resolved quickly and effortlessly.
Season2 has been pretty ordinary - not bad, not great, just average. The last episode was pretty good, not great.

Does anybody know what SyFy are planning to bring in, to replace SGU?

Agents or Alphas or some crappy sounding show like that. It's SyFy's answer to the other Abrams superhero thing I think.

Atlantis movie shelved ‘indefinitely’

“I’m sorry to say but the cancellation puts the brakes on whatever progress the SGA movie had made in the past month, shelving it indefinitely,” he said. “… Contrary to what some may think, the cancellation of SGU is very bad news for those looking forward to an Atlantis movie.”

Not a great thing but I guess we just have to wait and see what happens now ... not a lot else to do other than wait!
