.Yes but Lixxus, why do you need alcohol to achieve these same goals? There are millions of people who have a damn good time with their mates without the use of alcohol at all.
I don't mind people getting merry - hell i'm sat on the sofa right now with three quite merry people in front of me and we're having a laugh and a chat at the same time!

As said already, if you can't enjoy yourself without having to rely on being drunk, there's a problem there somewhere.

it is a **** example, i'm veggie and i enjoy a good BBQ as much as anyone else, plenty of veggie alternatives to meat that can go on a barby.

And as I've said already, if you bothered to listen before you shouted down from your ivory tower, the problem isn't that I can't enjoy myself without being drunk. It's that I can't enjoy myself going to a pub/club without being drunk because it's not an enjoyable experience. It's only bearable drunk because you're retarding brain function.
That's why I no longer do it.
That's exactly why I don't go to clubs or bars. I'll only visit a pub for lunch and even then that's rare.
Ivory tower? Not sure what you're on about there sorry. Well I have to disagree about going to pubs/clubs sober, if you're with people you enjoy being with, and at a decent place then it can be perfectly fun sober or drunk. Don't start thinking I have anything against drinking, I don't, I just think it's ridiculous that people have to rely on it to have a good time.

I relate to this. Big time.
Although to be fair a couple of times I have went out, stayed sober and been able to enjoy myself due to the sheer mess of the people I was with by the end of the night.
That said, can always be the other extreme and they're not funny, just annoying and looking a smack in the mouth.

I don't generally drink when I'm out, I simply don't have the need to or feel the need to. I have plenty of fun without needing liquor. My friends don't mind in the slightest and to use a cliche I am considered the life of the party, I'm a pretty outgoing person anyway. I would tend to lean towards what some others have said that if you are feeling the need to drink in order to fit in or have fun, then something somewhere isn't right.
That's the way to do it. There's really no noticable difference... until it gets to drunken mess time. As long as it doesn't go that far then you just don't need to drink at all. Or you could have a few drinks, it's personal preference.
The problem is when you go on a night out and the people you are with are resting their hopes for a good night entirely on alcohol.
That's not what I meant. The way you worded it was though when you go out with your friends, they're the only people you speak to.
Nothing wrong with a good drink, and certainly no need to insinuate that people who like a drink need a drink.
Drinking's great, the most interesting people I've ever met have liked a good drink and a chat.
