Not seen anything. Not really sure what his form is supposed to be either. Wasn't great at Bayern, plagued with injuries. Had one good debut season at Blackburn, more injuries, poor second season. Hughes for reasons only known to himself still bought him, low and behold, injured, generally poor form as a result. He's now 29, is he really going to find that one good seasons worth of form again?
Well I saw something along the lines of 4mil touted but that was days ago, if so thats epic business by Blackburn, and from Cruz, if you're going to be injured for 2 seasons, better to do it on a ridiculous fee at a rich club
He's got something about him, he's definately a decent player I think all he needs is games while not injured, the question is, has he just become injury prone, will he get injured again after 5 games at Blackburn.
Matching his wages if true is a bit crazy, but we don't know what wages he's on, nothing quite as crazy as Adebayor whose supposedly on 140k a week.
Players like him make me laugh, rescued from the wilderness and all of a sudden wants 70k per week. Atleast Cahill and Arteta have shown some thanks back for having their careers kick started.
As for Yak, I never liked the big lazy gimp but I'm kinda upset with the money moyes wasted on him for little return in a sale and not giving him more opportunity when we have no strikers.
Thank god, a sane fan, and exactly what I see when I see him play. Concede's posession, plays with the ego that he's one of the best players around, tries stupid things and can't actually pull them off. His return of assists/goals is pathetic. When I see Everton play, and it might not be the same for every game, it always feels like he gets on the ball more than most, that almost everyone defaults to passing to him to start a move. I think because he was one of the only senior players when Cahill/Arteta/jewfro were injured.
I think it was also when those guys missed a chunk of games that people started to see Pienaar as FAR more important than he actually was.
With Yak, you always get the impression if he wants to throw his considerable weight around he can manhandle almost anyone, but that in 9 out of 10 games he just can't be bothered.
Moyes's spent his money very effectively for several years but lately, relying on Pienaar, giving Yak and Saha lots of money seemed to be completely the wrong move for a low budget team.
If Yak finds his level in a lower league and you can get a fee for him end of season(or is he out of contract by then?) then I think thats when Moyes will look for a real striker.
Its a good move anyway to ditch both, save money on wages, at least a few mil a year, if you figure 50k or so each then thats 5mil a year, if you get a fee for either you can add that on top.
For clubs like everton (most sane clubs) the outlay for a new player isn't always about the money and never making a loss, its about wages and staying within a budget to make a year on year profit(even if its small). When at that limit you need to take wages off the budget to add new players.
