Reportedly Babel had a change of heart and accepted the Hoffenheim offer this afternoon. I suspect his decision may have been influenced by Comolli's meeting in Holland today, which may have ended any hope of him returning to Ajax.
I don't buy into this idea that Comolli went all the way to Holland if we were still €15m apart after over a week of talks though. There's no chance either side would have bothered to meet until we're talking in the same ballpark.
I can understand his disappointment and respect their decision to reject any bid that they don't think is acceptable, but while his reaction is funny, he's gone ott.
Sounds like Ajax have been unimpressed and are suggesting Comolli's been speaking with Suarez/his agent without permission and that might well be why Comolli was over there.
So do Liverpool have money to spend, or not, its very unclear at the moment. During the takeover it sounded like they had money but he'd be buying with a little bit of sanity and not spending that much, IE no 300million spent, or thats the impression I got. Then early transfer window it didn't seem like Liverpool were in a rush to get things sorted, which again is madness, if they plan to get 3-4 new players then Jan 1st vs jan 30th could mean the difference between 0 and 12 points being gained, and Europa football, or nothing next season.
IT all seemed very quiet, then Liverpool suggest there is money to buy, maybe loads of it, and Suarez talks start, and now we're hearing they are low balling the bid, massively and Ajax aren't impressed at all.
Suarez has 2.5years on his contract, is their top scorer and top assister for 3 years, is their best player and was one of two instrumental players in getting a half decent team to 3rd in the world cup, he isn't going cheap so why offer THAT low, is it all they have?
