January Transfer Window 2010/2011 Season Rumours/Signings

Liverpool haven't had proper width since the whole Riera fiasco. I say stick Johnson on the right wing (as he is currently rubbish as a LB) and maybe Aurelio on the left.

But we also need some creativity and someone prepared to throw their weight around in the centre of midfield. If/when Aquilaini returns, then that might be one sorted, but I think we need to buy someone to do the other.

N'Zogbia always plays LW? Adam isn't a DM but I'd still take him to sit in front of our back 4 and spray the ball about like Xabi did.

N'Zogbia is a winger. I certainly wouldn't be disappointed if we signed him but I prefer Young to him.

As for Adam, don't let Holloway fool you into thinking Adam can replace Alonso. He's not half the player Alonso was.

Personally I think we need a winger, a DM, a CB and a LB to be a complete team.

N'Zogbia, Coentrao, Mertesacker and Adam would be alright. :D

add a world class striker to that list.
Suarez cannot lead the line, if Torres is off then it leaves us weaker, much much weaker, then before Suarez signed.
Who's going to go uptop .. ngog? sigh

Adam's not a defensive midfielder.

Stick him in a City shirt :p

Whilst I'm sure there were some Liverpool fans laughing their ***** off whilst the Tevez (And Rooney) sagas were going on, for those that didn't I share your pain. Hope he doesn't go to be honest. Would seem odd him not playing for Liverpool and I wouldn't want another talent like him wondering off to Spain for another round of "lets see if we can reach double figures this week".

Jesus christ!

When Rush left what happened? Beardsley, Barnes and Aldo were signed and we ended up with arguably the best side in our clubs history.

Look at the state of our squad, there's certainly a case to be made that if we get a huge bid, that money alone could be spent in a way which would improve the squad/side as a whole. Stop panicking!!

And again, Torres will only leave this window if the club let him.

Different era, sorry.
I dont have faith at all that its as simple as your making out.
Improving the squad means nothing if your relying on Kuyt to net you 6 goals a season :x

Now forgive me for being a bit depressive at the moment, some of us have had just about enough of being **** on for about 4 years now.

Agreed, but where are the signings? If torres left for £50m and we could bring in three top notch replacements it's a step forward. Where can you buy three quality forwards in today's market for £50m?

You're right. The world will end the day Torres leaves.

So how do you suppose we deal with losing a player who, until the Roy fiasco, had around / better 1 goal / game ratio ? in 3 days?

The only players i would even consider swapping him for would probably cost £80 mill + and not want to move without CL football.

Money means nothing if the player wont move to you, everyone keeps spewing (other forums too) that same comparison to the one you used, but its a completely different era! We cant live on past successes, without even being able to offer the CL its going to be a right job to attract the kind of talent we need to be getting, hell even Suarez said he wanted to sign "to play with torres" and now he's off too.

I would love Kenny to come out tomorrow and announce "Its okay, we've signed Pato and Llorente as replacements" but its never going to happen. With out a SINGLE established world class player in the squad outside of Reina (Sorry, Gerrard's too old and memory-lapse prone to play Midfield, and everyone makes him play there so /shrug) and no prospect of CL football, it wont happen.
Its going to be a long rebuilding process signing spurs quality players like Crouch and Defoe (Sorry spurs fans) and needing a lot of luck before we return to being able to sign the players we should be signing had the H and G regime been nothing but a nightmare.

Forgive me for being a right moody *******, but the prospect of mid table mediocrity scares and offends the **** out of me. I cant believe everyones being so calm about things.
