January Transfer Window 2010/2011 Season Rumours/Signings

Forgive me for being a right moody *******, but the prospect of mid table mediocrity scares and offends the **** out of me. I cant believe everyones being so calm about things.

No, I'm not going to forgive you!

I am being calm about things because there is still, yes still, no actual proof that any of this is true. There is no actual proof that Torres has asked to leave, no actual proof that he would be allowed to leave in the window and no actual proof that he will leave. Just no sense in getting worked up and moody about it. Until I see some actual evidence, instead of journos saying contradictory things and providing no proof then I'm not going to believe a word of it, and I'm not going to get worked up about something I dont believe in. Not even Santa.

Agreed, but where are the signings? If torres left for £50m and we could bring in three top notch replacements it's a step forward. Where can you buy three quality forwards in today's market for £50m?

Of course we're not going to be able to go out and buy 3 players of Torres's stature for £50m. We're going to have to buy well but £50m is enough to go out and buy a top striker, winger and CM and even if none turn out as good as Torres, the whole could be greater than the sum of it's parts.

As he has put in an official request now, I would stick to my original plan if he did so, sit down , explain to him that he cannot leave now, that he needs to see the season out and once the season is done we will do the utmost to facilitate a good move for him in the summer. If he is reasonable, he will agree and continue to perform to the best of his ability for the remainder of the season.

If however there is doubt that he will perform, then we should let him go tomorrow to Chelsea for a bid of £50m+

Strikers win you games, its why spurs are never going to challenge for any major honours with Defoe and Crouch et al. Even if their wingers are probably better then the majority of the rest of the league.

Proven goal scorer?

They want him for the Prem not the Carling Cup :p

Semantics.

He has scored nine for Mexico and as DM keeps pointing out, has one of the best goals/minutes ratios! Only takes him 45mins to score a goal. That being said he has only played 45mins of first team football this year...

Hope City hop on this and drive up the price. Will always have great memories of him and be thankful for what he did, but handing in a transfer request is unforgivable IMO.

Odd time for him to put in a transfer request though... right after we splash £23 million quid on a player, to go to a team which I'm sure even Chelsea fans would admit are wobbly this year and getting on a bit, and when there is only 2 days left of the window. If he wanted to go, why not stick in the request towards the start of the window and allow himself the majority of the window to "look around", instead of when there are only 48 hours remaining and pushing a transfer through would be a race , even if both sides agreed.

Strange really, not so much the desire to go, that I could understand, but the timing and destination seem strange.

Lost a lot of respect for him now. He could've easily waited until the summer and few Liverpool supporters would've held it against him but a few days before the transfer window closes isn't easily forgivable.

Hunt - Keegan - Dalglish - Rush - Aldridge - Rush - Fowler - Owen - Torres.

They come and go. When Owen left I'm sure you felt the same but then Torres came and if Torres leaves somebody will replace him.

I guess you don't remember the 05/06 season where we were only 9 points behind Chelsea despite having a front line of Cisse, Crouch and Morientes?

That said, considering we dont need the cash (apparently) and he's going to whine anyway, let him rot in the reserves until he's 29.

Laugh, my, ***, off. I'm sure if you were to look through the Rooney and Tevez threads it's exactly the same (Not the Tevez thread on here really as there's only two City fans, but on fan forums).

1) Rumour comes out
2) Denial
3) Hope
4) Club confirms transfer request
5) Rot in the reserves
6) Confirms he's staying at club
7) I'll cheer him if he scores goals but I still won't be happy about it

It's like freakin clockwork :D

Edit: Added a couple more!
