Respect peoples work, that's all there is to it, if they are busy building try not get in the way. But people who go mad at you having a look round should not be on a multiplayer server. I don't go wild at people who walk past my house on my street. I suppose you get the odd few who feel the need to put then high pitched sound alarms which effect more than just teenagers.

More to point just accept it, it's multiplayer, mistakes will be made, things will accidently explode(damn you creepers).

But after all, is this not just the beauty of multiplayer?

Could well of being me :D

I don't mind people coming to look round providing they ask first.

I raised this point before online and was called gay and basically told to **** off, such a nice community.

It's like walking past someone's house, just ask before you come in, if you are in and someone is busy building just stay out of the way.

I always ask to tp and have a look around, polite :)

Edit, it's not that they just turn up without asking that just annoys me, they then proceed to go through my chests, and then get annoyed when I have a go at them, sprouting the line "it's a multiplayer server". Seriously, ask, it's polite and the community is better then that, also given that we had a thief on not too long ago, people have every right to be a bit cautious about people rooting through their things.

i would not let someone look through my chest, if someone started doing that i would dig a hole so deep that they couldn't get out and bury them.:D
 
A lot of issues would never come up if people just respected others privacy. You wouldn't want some stranger to just walk into your house in real life and have a look around, you wouldn't stand for it. And although you can't lock doors easily in minecraft you can create walls.

It should be common sense for people to think 'Oh look, this person has a big wall, perhaps he doesn't want people to go inside', rather than 'Oh just because this is a game I'll ignore the wishes of other players and bypass any of their structures designed to keep people out, just so I can snoop around inside'.

regardless of the reason people play on a multiplayer server, they have been allowed on this server and if they make a reasonable effort to keep people out then others should respect that. I play on a multiplayer server so I can build cool things like I did in singleplayer, but also help others with interesting builds when needed, like when I built a safe house on the first night of this new map at the original spawn, or helped level out the area for the new spawn.
 
Problem is, when I asked online for people to respect each other, not tp randomly without asking and not go through my chests, I was called gay and had to put up with a wave of abuse and "**** off this is a multiplayer server" type replys.

Honestly, lovely community.

Hey guys, I got the enhanced textures + lighting + Depth of field working, but not really playable due to crashes. Anyone got it working on a 24/7 basis? It looks reallllllly good.
