Addicted to Coca Cola...

I do, was eating less crap and more good stuff, was actually getting up for breakfast in the mornings and having sandwiches and the like for lunch in place of pot noodles. :p

Again healthier true, but not really many less cals. A pot noddle has about the same as an average sandwich (changes a lot depending on filling). I'm not saying it ain't more healthy just that you were consuming the same calories. If you hadn't been you'd have lost weight. For weight loss food type doesn't really matter so much, it is all about the number of calories.

I've been off any kind of caffeined drinks for a week or so now. After about three days the craving subsides dramatically and after a week the headaches stop too.

I drank coke nearly everyday (only ever the real coke, not diet or zero ever) for around 20 years. I would drink most days over 1-2 litre. Then around one year ago i quit and i have not had a single sip of coke again and i feel a lot more healthy. My teeth especially and my body is just less tense in general. I still drink coffee though and my alcohol consumption increased a lot when i quit. One vice for another as the saying goes :/

But i drink a lot of water and buy the fresh non from concentrate juices from M&S and also a lot of liptons ice tea. But it was pretty difficult to quit, took me two weeks before the intense graving stopped. Not as difficult as cigs but definitely difficult to quit.

Ill be honest, I wish mine was only lasting that long! Ive been off now for about 3 weeks...I have had the odd can though, and had coke as a mixer a couple of times, but compared to what I usually drink, its a drastic drop. This week my appetite has gone completely! For the past two weeks, Ive been getting headaches constantly from the afternoon onwards. And my sleep has gone awol!

But, like many people have said...its all for the best!

Sandwiches can have like 500 cal, where a pot noodle is like 250cal

A bowl of fruit and nut (30g) which is tiny with milk can have like 180 cal, which isn't enough, most people would pour a bigger bowl than that and its around 300cal i bet.

Try a bowl of porridge for breakfast, salad for lunch, soup for dinner. Skip any juice, any fizzy stuff, just water, and you will lose weight.

I found it was far easier to just gradually reduce the amount i had instead of just going cold turkey. I was only drinking 4 or 5 cans a day though. So I just limited myself to 4 cans a day for a week, then 3, then 1 until I just stopped.

I still drink it occasionally but its usually if I'm out and driving. My drink of preference is water or OJ.

4 or 5 cans a day!??!?! That's still 1.5 litres (roughly)

Your right though gradually working it out the diet is easier than actually jsut trying to go cold turkey

But yes, anyway rant over....Anyone else have any crazy addictions to Coca Cola?

I did have. Was having 2 - 4 litres a day and have been for quite a few years. Now only drink it socially.

Boy was I thirsty for the first couple of days! Water never seems to quench my thirst like the trusty red stuff!

May not be relateded but the following 2 weeks my sleep pattern was a mess. Well I say mess, I was just unable to get to sleep before 4am every single night. Despite getting up at 8 for work!

Must say I feel a lot better for it. Defiantly got more energy as a result!

Cigarettes next I think!

I just can't believe they still use fluid extract of coca in coca cola, even if harmless i'd have thought it would be bad for public image.

Does Diet Coke actually have any bad ingredients in whatsoever, other than caffeine and sweetener?

No, it's harmless, contrary to conspiracy nutters.

Diet Coke still isn't suitable for those with diabetes.

That isn't true. There were a couple of studies showing that there was a correlation between glucose control and people who drank multiple cans a day, but nothing suggesting a need to totally eliminate diet drinks from the diet.

That's still nothing compared to some people. I've read enough stories of people who were drinking 10+ every day. You get it with a lot of drinks and there are people who drink that many cans of RedBull and think that there is nothing wrong with it.

Madness.

Harmless is going a bit far. Its been tagged as fit for human consumption. That doesn't mean harmless. Like anything there are enough reports of side effects. Most people are fine with it but it does have an effect on some.

Ok kids...so yes its definitely not as hardcore as heroin, and it might not be as down with the kids as coke, but Im completely addicted to Coca Cola, and have been for many years now, its only now however I have started to realise how badly!

So yes, Im obviously fully aware of just how bad for you most fizzy drinks are, especially coke. Its just never really bothered me. I have/had a pretty terrible diet, with junk food and sugar intake, although seeing as I never put any weight on due to my metabolism, I just ignored it. It got to the point last year, where I wanted to start a bit of a health kid, so started kicking the fast food. I always knew I relied on coke, and joked about how I was addicted to it. On average, I would have a can when I woke up, and a couple more before 11. Throughout lunch I would have a couple more. I would then get a bottle on the way home and once home I would normally have between 1 and 2 liters depending on how much was in the fridge! Yeah, I know how shocking it is, but I guess Im pretty fortunate...I still have all my teeth and somehow they are in extremely good shape, although on the inside, Im probably dying a quick death!!

So the past few weeks, I decided to give it up.

Not going well at all. When I was ever feeling ill, or had a headache or anything minor...a can of coke...and blam, felt much better! I never used to get that seriously ill though. As of giving it up however...the past 3 weeks I have been more ill than I have been collectively in my whole life. I have crazy headaches all the time. If it gets really bad, I have half a cup of coke to take the edge off a little bit..which it does...but now, any coke I have sends my stomach CRAZY. Its a tough comedown, but it should definitely be worth it in the long run to give the stuff up.

I used to drink at least a can a day sometimes 2-3 cans per day for years I stopped drinking it about 14 months ago and now drink water. I feel much better for it I don't even like the taste that much now and can't really see why I drank so much of it.

This....Exactly what I am going through right now. I can sleep, but not when I have to. Im up til about 6-7 every morning, even thought I have to be up! Frustrating as hell...I cant think of anything more frustrating than knowing you need to be up, but cant fall asleep!

I used to be addicted to coke and red bull (not together obviously but must try it one day). I've cut down the amount I drink now, not cut it out all together though, enjoy it far too much for that. I feel a lot better as a result far less sugar crashes for a start however I have picked up a new addiction as a result, Ribena.
