Are ghosts real?

To the OP, no ghosts are not real. At least there is no scientific evidence to suggest their existence. It is weird that all ghosts talking to mediums only try to relay mundane info such as favourite numbers, how they died etc. i.e. anything you could work out from cold reading.

edit: and derek ancorah is a classic cold reader.
 
I don't believe that "ghosts" are the souls of dead people hanging around and getting up to mischief. However, I do think there is something to the whole paranormal thing.....probably just something we don't quite understand yet. After all, there are some pretty fundamental aspects of "life, the universe and everything" we don't even understand so it would be foolish to rule anything out completely. That goes for most of the "alternative" beliefs out there.
 
surely then they could have placed a card with the details for Morse code and had it tell them who it was and details about their life?

So these people passed up the opportunity to have a genuine conversation with a ghost?
 
Ghost Hunters is an awful show, second only in annoying editing and faked 'evidence' to Most Haunted. There is at least one video on YT proving that they fake things.

The two leads are also extremely uncharismatic and ****y.

Personally, after much research, I believe that some 'paranormal phenomena' certainly exist but I feel that the explanations lie in science we have yet to discover rather than the mischievous dead. Some 99% of supposedly haunted locations are down to urban myth, local legend or just the actual physical make-up of the locale. But there is that tantalising 1% that defies explanation.
 
it's the peoples reaction to it that disproves it most of the time.

It's like the scientists at CERN finding the higgs boson and then just moth balling the place leaving and never coming back.

It's just not plausible it's just vindicated your life's work you'd be over the moon and doing everything to fully explore it, not just meh next week we're somewhere else.
 
Yeah, I agree. The greatest arguement against Most Haunted was the fact that when they claimed to capture 'evidence' itwas always on shaky, handheld cameras. If you know a room is supposed to be haunted you would dot the place with locked off cameras. Whoever captures that first, irrefutable video of a ghost will be millionaires overnight - so why run around with night vision equipment from a pound shop?

Having said that Yvette Fielding and her husband are now extremely well-off thanks to their BS on MH...

It does help if you read the whole thread :)

The thread was about people who believe the first thing they see and accept it but I can't.
I continued to investigate and got my answer when I saw the same thing happen.

I also did a similar thread about seeing UFO's (yes I know UFOs don't = aliens) but I wouldn't let it drop.
Somebody suggested chinese lanterns and that's exactly what they were although I had never heard of them up until that point.
Incidentally a few weeks ago I got my petrol and saw several people looking up at the sky.
I stopped the car, opened the window and told them they were chinese lanterns but got a mouthfull of a couple of them.
I then told them to look around because there were more in the sky that I could see from within my car.
They still went home thinking they saw aliens.

Yeah, it is, you keep posting posts proving aliens and poltergiests exist, then go in a huff when they get proved fake :D

I think physics says it best, if ghosts exist they are the one thing that doesnt need any energy source to power them.

Dimple, you are closer to death than any of us on here with your elderly age, if ghosts exist, when you pass over, come back and let us know be resurrecting this thread in ten years time.
 
I know a few people who have witnessed 'figures' etc, myself included, who cannot explain what they saw.
 
I'm very sceptical about the existance of ghosts. My mum likes to watch programmes like Most Haunted, but I think their garbage. A bunch of people walking around some old house, screaming their heads off at the slightest noise. Pffft.

Until they had an episode where the walls start bleeding and flaming skulls shoot across the room, I remain unconvinced.
