Marvel Vs Capcom 3

Ok just had a quick go at this...

Oh.... ****.

Is this manic or what? Totally different pace to SF4. I think if I went back to SF4 after a few weeks of playing this, it will seem so much slower in comparison.

I think the games mechanics are simpler but its more about muscle memory combos.

Am I right in saying that this game seems more forgiving timing wise? (i.e. you can buffer more attacks etc?)

You can't get much simpler than SFIV game mechanics. this is a lot more complex. You have KFC to consider, team switching, heath regen, assists, unblockables, meter usage... SFIV is such a simple game that most fighters are a lot more complex.

Every character has very easy "dial-a-combo's" that do 700-1300k damage. The difficulty in MvC3 is not learning combo's, it's in not getting hit by them.

So far I would say that in terms of learning curve, this game is easier and the combos are easy to do i.e. the game mechanics are easier. I wasnt refering to stratgies in my comparison earlier. As to the other factors you listed, I have no idea as I have not play MvC3 enough, but I guess having a 3 vs 3 battle will yield a much higher number of permutation strategies compared to SF4

Learn to hold block or something? :p

Which reminds me, is there a parry system/counter system in MvC 3?
(I've literally played about 10mins of this so not had enough time to discover. Tbh I was being dazzled by the array of combos I was pulling off).

Not really. you can pushblock away from block strings, but not avoid the unblockables.

My first ranked match and I made an Akuma, Dante and Wesker chap nerd rage quit on me.

After some practice last night, I've won about 30 + random games in a row tonight using several different teams against different players.

Meh. It's okay, but I'm not "super" excited about the game.

Not many people do. As Dark Angel has shown, just jumping in with random characters and spamming the magic series will get you far at the moment.

I do know some stuff, from previous games and my practice.

Though I'm using joystick, I prefer pad so that's not really helping any. Still, able to get a bit of tri jumping and various other tactics in.

Arthur and amaratsu are annoying to fight against though :/

Amaratsu is surprisingly awesome. I didn't really know what to expect though.

I use Amaterasu.

I only use type C(H) with him/her/it, and spam the ice shots. When they get close, spam towards + H.
Should work for a while until everyone learns how to play :p

I will ask you guys in a week or so what you think of this game, once you have had a proper chance to get into it.

Never got a chance to try out many of the characters tonight but I did enjoy Arthur. Not gonna get much time on this until next week unfortunately.

played some more last night, completely dont know what to make of the game really.
its not better than mvc2 thats for sure.

my biggest gripes are the roster - half the cast are useless just filler. wheres ruby? wheres cable? wheres bloody ken!?
i dont want 500 res evil characters thanks.......

the last boss is a bitch aswell , last night i wiped them/him out without using a continue then on my next two playthroughs couldnt do it at all and raged. wtf?! seems in the opening battle with the duo , if you get caught in the middle of them you might aswell give up then as you take monster damage.

i just think the games a bit too mushy and lacks significant bite...but still il keep on playing it, but i think ultimately the 2nd one is a much much more playable and enjoyable game.
