I don't want a job

Forgive my potential stupidity but in the case where job seekers allowance was stopped being paid to a significant amount of people then surely it would free up cash for other areas? Perhaps even to help repay the deficit? or possibly even put a freeze/small decrease on taxes for particular things in effect making our money go further and in a way increase our pay packets by not having to support lazy scum?

Another political project would be funded.

IMO not having a job is admirable if you're somehow self-sufficient and doing something worthwhile or interesting with your time. Don't think it really works in cities though.

Exactly my point your born a damn slave in this country. You have no choice but to work and pay your way. Unless you somehow manage to find a small place to live alone and no one bother you. This isnt like America

You can live for nothing in America? First time I heard that..

How are you born a slave???? The only thing forced upon anyone is the need to provide for themselves. Someone has had to produce (work for) everything that is consumed. People on benefits bring nothing to the table, they expect to be provided for and in turn provide nothing for others.

If you’d like to live in society where everyone can have what they want and no one needs to work I wish you all the best in your quest.

I think the simple answer is to ban TV/Computer Games for those on benefits. There's no way half of them would survive a week without it.

I mean eg. you can live off the grid, deserts forests large areas with plenty wildlife etc. Our tiny island just doesnt have that much.
It still requires work to live. Unless in your slightly warped impression of what America is like you can just camp in a forest and expect gazelles and potatoes to peel themselves and jump into your cooking pot.

I heard the original phonecall when it was on Radio 5 earlier in the week, the one in OP's link is massively cut down and makes him look a lot worse imo.
He home tutors his kids and actually has some valid points to make.

ORIGINAL AIRING

The edited version did make him look like more of a lazy person. I thought he did raise some valid issues and he was fairly articulate. I felt that the BBC woman interviewing him was trying to influence listeners opinion of him with comments like "I don't think you've made any friends on here" when he mentioned us taxpayers funding the war, as I actually agreed with that point.

However, I still don't agree with having to pay this guys way in life with no prospect of him giving something back to us taxpayers/society in general in return.

That is the problem, we are all born into a system with no opt out.

that is actually a good point, we no longer have true freedom due to this whole "society" thing with all the rules and regulations

would be nice to go back to a simpler way of life

Surely if someone wanted to live off the grid they would know that you need to catch your own food..

A lot of other people probably feel the same way but the government won't allow it. imo they give benefits to keep those worse off in society content the last thing they want is 2.5m (or whatever the real figure is) people marching in London demanding change like the Egyptians did. Plus it has the added bonus of dividing the populace like with uncontrolled immigration etc.

I dread to think what living/working conditions will be like in 50yrs time, I expect things will get progressively worse (look up the phrase boiling a frog) until people (hopefully) stand up and say enough is enough rather than being distracted whenever the government blame all the countries ills on those on benefits. The USA don't have a massive welfare state how did they manage to get $14 trillion in debt? could it be that governments are either plain useless or perhaps just don't have our best interests in mind?

how is that any different from the old slave trade where masters told their slaves that they could leave but would lose their benefits given to them as slaves if they did (place to live/food etc)?
Slaves were kidnapped from their homes, bought and sold, beaten, raped, forced to work for nothing, basically treated worse than you would treat an animal.

This guy is just lazy.

If you can't see the difference then you're either very naive/stupid or you're trolling.

The fact is if this guy stopped claiming dole as everybody wants, built a home, allotment and lived entirely independently the government would soon come along and bulldoze it all, even if he was "contributing to society" by selling food he grew to local shops the government would soon stop him.
If he owns if legally and follows the law then the government would have no right to bulldoze his property.

So, once we've disposed of all the useless layabout doley's who shall we pick on next, how about the old, I mean, they don't do anything anymore, and they're old, and they get in the way, and they are a drain on the precious resources as much as the doley's, lets get rid of the old people.. and the sick, don't like the sick either.. we should probably also dispose of the criminal, the degenerate, the dissident, feeble-minded, homosexual, insane and the weak.

Ethnics, clearly.
