Bullying - Who's in the wrong here?

That's rather worrying.

Nope it's not, if robbers use excessive violence why can't others in defense?

A flower shop near me got robbed a while ago by 2 men with a gun, despite the owners cooperating the robbers were disappointed about the small amount of cash and stabbed the owner anyway.

The robbers should have their hands cut off for it, unfortunately they got away.

So if you hit someone (with fists), are they allowed to shoot you?

Hitting someone isn't even near as bad as robbing a shop or a burglar in your house .
If I hit someone with fists I expect to be hit back...

Shooting armed robbers on sight isn't a bad idea though. Ideally a person robbing a shop with a gun should be shot himself by his very own gun.

Luckily here a government is in charge which adopted a policy which won't prosecute people defending their possessions any more, in the past you were prosecuted for excessive violence, now you're not, an example is a snackbar being robbed a while ago, the police will not charge the owners with anything (unlike in the past) for them throwing hot oil in the face of the robbers :).

In the same way, I hope that if someone catches a bungler in his house, he won't be prosecuted if he breaks his legs with a bat so he can't get away before the cops show up.

Did you actually read DanH84's post :)

first of all, how you gonna get the gun off him to shoot him on sight?

second of all, usually in a robbery the robber is armed, therefore you should have the right to defend yourself any way possible, if that means if your in a shop/restaurant and you grab a bottle of wine and smack him over the head cracking their skull then so be it.

even if they dont appear to be armed you should still have the right to do it, god knows whats in their sleeves or pockets.

as for punching someone, there are no rules in a street fight, anything goes, but thats completely different to robbing someone.

Because they're decent people. The scenario you describe, while on quick glance seems fair, is worrying.

Have you considered the scenario of someone being framed/fooled into a position where they can be accused of stealing just so they can be given a hiding or worse?

Why do they need to be armed? I thought you were all for excessive violence?

Breaking someones leg with a bat is not excessive, it is on par with breaking in. Someone breaking in your house is a serious crime imho.

Shooting someone is a tad excessive for breaking in, but not if he's just robbed you at gunpoint.

Afterwards, for example, cops arrest the guy who robbed the shop and take his gun, they should for example be able to shoot him in his arm as punishment for armed robbery.

Agreed.

Agreed, but there's a limit, you shouldn't do life threatening things to them, but I'm all for throwing hot oil or smashing a wine glass in the face of a robber. Let him be scarred for life for his actions, perhaps some people will learn that actions have consequences...

Agreed.

You have a weird and twisted sense of justice.

You have a weird and twisted sense of justice.

Or I think theft and robbery is more serious than you and should be punished far more severely.

Stealing is punished so lightly, stealing something ( in a shop or petrol station) under 50 euros is punished by a 130 euro fine, stealing under 120 euros is punished by a 220 euro fine...

Meanwhile, a motorist doing 63 mph here at night:
http://maps.google.nl/?ie=UTF8&ll=5...=IhW3giepgwmuZmTSExLY0w&cbp=12,291.47,,0,4.18

Will get a +-400 € fine
Lose his license for a week.
Get a point on his license.
Will get an ''EMG'' course, a 3 day course for ''dangerous drivers'' costing 780 euros.

Slightly out of proportion punishment for a harmless crime, while a softie punishment for someone who has done financial harm to someone else.
