Anyone else hate eating at restaurants?

I'm glad someone agrees with me, apart from some reasonable reponses discussing the issue the rest of the posts have been sniping interspersed with "OMG U DONT HAVE 2 BE DER!!!11one" (wow gee, never occured to be honest!).

I guess many of the non-reactionary onlookers that have been here longer are just used to it by now.

Why are people insulting kwerk and saying he's a troll for saying he doesn't see the point in restaurants? Is he posting on the restaurantowners.co.uk forums, or is eating out an unquestioned ideology that forms the base of modern society?

No, it's because he generally posts rubbish.

If it was available for sale at your local supermarket, would you drink dolphin milk?

You know how stuff is radiating heat and light, it's also radiating maths in a way. There is an underlying mathematical system to the universe.

So computers are like telescopes, letting us get a "closer look" at complex maths. Maybe one day humans will evolve to a point where we see maths like we see light now, instinctively.

TBH I don't feel much sympathy for these naive christian do-gooders who go to the third world and have bad things happen to them. What do you frickin expect to happen in Africa, THE RAPE CAPITAL OF EARTH?

"Play stupid games, win stupid prizes".
Did you know Niger is the largest producer in the world of indigenous ass meat?
Take a look at his previous posts and you'll see a theme - idiocy.

I kind of agree. I'd rather grab something fast then go out afterwards.

I'm the exact opposite. I'd rather spend a few hours over several courses with some decent food, wine and drinks, good company and discussion than spend an evening in a pub or bar.

Yes, I hate it, totally over-rated and generally over priced for anything even approaching half decent. If I've got a rare night free, i'd rather grab something quick and healthy to eat and then go out and tear the town up!

Sitting around restaurants just seems like an utter waste of time to me, each to their own though.

Some spineless posters here really do take any opportunity to get their cheap shots in when they see a reputed "troll" making a thread, regardless of what the post actually contains.

It's funny how you quote posts of his that could broadly be considered reasonable, yet leave out posts of his Speakers Corner that are actually fairly anti-Semetic.

Regardless, I don't see how you believing the kwerk is personally "stupid" excuses insulting him and accusing him of trolling in a thread where no statement of his could be considered inflammatory or a consequence of stupidity?

And since when would it excused anyway, or am I missing the point of internet forums such as these? Who decides 'consensus' and then enforces it with attacking the arguer rather than the argument?

I love eating out, but hate it when there are out of control kids running about/screaming.

I love food, but I'm generally a bit edgy because I'm worried I'll drop some food or make myself look a fool in a restaurant. That said, I won't avoid them because of that.

I absolutely love going to resturaunts. So much better than just going out, especially when its good food, good service, good drink and good company :D

In fact im going for Tapas on Wednesday for my girlfriends birthday :).

Personally I'd prefer to have dinner with someone that can mentally piece together phrasiology such as "diabetic land whale's diminished sense of taste from years of masturbatory gustation" rather than with someone who makes one-word 'one-ups' positing that someone is 'boring/stupid' because they don't agree with them on how to dine.

This is no personal endorsement of kwerk, but at the end of the day posters like him, obviously along with other more respected contributors, are the reason I read forums like these when I can. I prefer the (contained) conflict of ideas and personalities to the social belonging some people seem to crave on here.

Sounds like you've got social problems from reading some of those.

Going out to a restaurant is more about socializing and enjoying yourself or celebrating occasions than actually eating the food.

Get over yourself. You sound excruciatingly pretentious.

How do you know he doesn't enjoy socialising elsewhere? like, in a pub, or coffee shop.

Whether I have delusions of aristocracy or not (?), how does this matter to you?

Or is actually having to think about arguments rather than dismissing the person making them as 'different' too difficult?

And we come around to my first post again.

Don't particularly enjoy eating out myself but i'd go out of politeness for special occassions etc

This really. I wouldn't turn down an invite, but i'd rather have a home-cooked steak for example, or even an Indian meal delivered - then go out somewhere afterwards.

or even better, a bbq!

Horses for courses I suppose but personally I like going out (when its a nice place).

Going to Burger King doesn't count!

How nice the evening is HUGELY dependant on the establishment, the food and the company. If one of those is crap, it can bring the rest down. That's why people pay more to go to nicer places as its more likely to have better food, better service and nicer atmosphere.

As for "expensive" eating out. It doesn't have to be. Sure, it is more expensive than eating at home, but eating out is kinda the same as going to the Theatre, rather than watching the TV. It is the experience, it is an evening out with people you like.

Plus, no washing up! :p
