Dont be coy how much and how much is a minter?
Remember that cheap liquidation sale Maserati i bought that me son ended up with? That cost me 3 grand odd the day it arrived, since then its cost another 3 grand, so any profit or cheapness in that car has now gone, i might as well have bought a minter first time round.
What im saying is free dinners are getting a bit thin on the ground, especially when you are buying from a car dealer, all be it one that usually deals in salvage.

Talking £30k for one with this spec BMW Used Approved (going by the select few on their site), this will be about £24k depending on windscreen fix or not.
@Fox, £27k for one with half the spec and more mileage. The ones on the BMW Used Approved are ~30ish for a similar spec although less mileage. Clicky

6k is not enough of a gap to make this worthwhile. You could spend that *easily* on repairs if you get unlucky. If you were telling us the car was sub 20k then maybe but IMO 24k-30k isn't worth the risk.
I've never bought supercars/exotics or even cars like this on a budget, it's a recipe for disaster it really is.
Until you've run something exotic, it never really hits home just how expensive the bills can be.

There's absolutely no harm in getting it checked but it's not enough of a discount to make it worth the risk IMO. You could have found a diamond in the rough but if you have, the guy selling it isn't going to be in business long if he likes selling cars at a loss.
Yep, all full BMW service history. I do want a nice one I can enjoy DM (your old name was better 
) but why pass on one which could be and is a potential bargain before we know if it is or not?
TBH, the guy selling the car didn't seem like the sharpest tool in the shed, very nice and simple type of chap. He deals in crash damaged cars so he's not a "proper" dealer.

Your considering buying an M5, your buying a car with supercar running cost and let me get this right your trying to save 1-2k by buying a car thats not from BMW in the hunt for a bargain. Sorry but you don't go buying cars of this performance level with the primary goal to get a bargain. You buy cars like this with the primary goal been that of getting a car thats near perfect with full manufacturer warranty.
Regarding an inspection, forget the AA or RAC, they've probably never seen an M5 before and would be clueless. Only BMW can inspect this car or a BMW specialist. BMW will charge £200-£300 to carry out a full inspection and to be frank its an absolute must. A specialist will cost you in the region of £400-£600 but again BMW are better setup to check such a car over.
Then warranty, well only BMW warranty is of any use, no other warranty will cover an M5 unless again its a specialist provider.
If you want a bargain, then sorry performance cars are not for you, as its not the way they are purchased, unless your goal is to buy and re-sell in a very short time period for a profit. If however your buying the car for your own enjoyment then buy the car from a good independent with good reputation or BMW official. Or a car from a owner who has clearly pampered and cared for the car, but from a salvage yard, sorry I'd not ever entertain it. Also get it HPI checked too!
Make no mistake about it the M5 cost a fortune to run, 10MPG, high insurance, £300 tyres per corner, expensive servicing cost and should something brake it will be always in four figures fact, sometimes five figures.
Listen to the guys on here, M5's are one of the most expensive cars on the road to keep and thats why its imperative you buy a good one and not a bargain.

Yet he's run an M5 for 2 years?
You want to buy an M5 from somebody you think isn't the sharpest tool in the shed? Why do you want to do that?
You know that advice I gave you earlier about buying a 545i instead?
Take it. Before this ends in tears. It's pretty clear from this thread that an M5 just isn't the right car, I think you've subconciously massively underbudgeted for everything involved.

Pay 2-4k more and get one from BMW with just 1-2 owners with BMW warranty which is perfect and un-marked.
Stupid people dont last a week in that business Gibbo, he aint selling it due to lack of money, hes selling cos he has smoked it about for 2 years, spent **** all on it and now wants shot, iv got a dozen semi mates in that sort of business do exactly that from everything up to 50k Bentleys, they dont give a toss till its ready to sell, then find someone like our man here looking for a bargain.
