***** The Crysis 2 Thread *****

Well completed crysis 2 its a much better game then the 1st one gameplay wise but was a shame too see textures/graphics quality reduced over the 1st game....

After 3 years you tend to think it would look better, its a sad state of pc gaming but it does look like eventually all games will be console optimised 1st and then pc 2nd, hopefully totaly wrong.....

Guess in order to make more money and across all platforms it has to be done.

There is very little money in Pc gaming compared to the consoles. Developing a game for the Pc with added development time is not cost effective so everything is developed for the lowest performer and then ported, in which case all the texture packs etc are used. If lucky and the devloper wants too they might patch the pc version with higher res textures and added effects but this costs money and most people that wan't it for pc would have already bought it. I really doubt there will be any DX11 patches or improved texture packs for Crysis 2 but we can hold out...

Does anyone know why i get a message come up saying An error occured installing this package. windows installer returned 1642 with the patch 1.2.

Thanks a lot.

The patch will be called Crysis 3 and due in 3 years time :D

Well i know someone who moved from London to Frankfurt to work for Crytek and believe me i gave him a long lecture about how annoying part 2 is to the pc gaming community.:p

He's so busy lately though but whenever i see him next i will ask about any high res texture pack coming though i reckon it will be with the DX11 update.(if i get any news i will say so)

He told me Crytek wouldn't of handled the financial income if they made it pc only this time due to the company being a lot larger now.

Add to that is there are too many scumbags pirating the pc versions...that's why us pc boys are getting screwed !

Console games are pirated as much ..

PC used to be the main development platform to show your skills when it started to hit the big time, now its the Console thats taken over that place.

Also the fact that the market has gone from Niche to main stream for game home entertainment which =s make as much money as you can with a product that full fills but doesn't exceed expectations ie: Consoles ...

Im well enjoying Crysis 1, on TV at 1080p maxed out with a 360 pad.
Im so glad I just bought this 480soc for Crysis 2 as Crysis 1 is more enjoyable now than 3 years ago on a 8800GTX.

Its just funny how Im playing Crysis 1 and the loading screen says the year 2007, when I have the Crysis 2 box lying around never to be played until it has the same or better graphics than a game from 4 years ago.

70 degrees (core 1 & 2)

Think its fine all the way upto 80 or so physically and if its stable dont worry about it. Usually it the case temp that needs lowering if you want to give it a chance of reducing the temp of everything else

Ok its obviously not a hopeless game that is devoid of fun but its definitely a big disappointment.
DX11 should bring some more realism to the game, falling water effects are cringe worthy currently.
Some extremely low quality textures made me think I was playing a beta release instead of a full game. This thread pretty much sums up the textures issue. The telescope in Goulds office being the worst part of the entire game for me, I have no idea what he was talking about because I was too busy facepalming to listen.
You are confined into reaching objectives with nothing else possible between starting a level and completing the objective. While I think of HL2 as the benchmark FPS and it has elements of this style of gaming it also has a much more engrossing storyline and character acting. In Crysis 2 it just feels like they throw objectives in front of you to make the game seem longer.
During dialogue the characters will assume you are in a single position so if you move they are talking to the walls.
Here is a bug you wouldn't expect to see in a game but seems a few people have encountered.

Here is a funny video about the last level in the game which shows how bad the AI is. I don't think there is much of a spoiler apart from showing how to finish the last level but all you have to do is follow objective markings on the map.

And finally, this is a comparison of the freedom of physics compared to Crysis 1.

Over all I will give it a generous 7/10, but if you are expecting it to be a sequel to Crysis 1 then its rating will drop considerably.

The checkpoint save system in this game is seriously annoying me. It's just too infrequent, and isn't designed well at all.

Several times I've got to a bit where you have to travel to get to an action set-piece. So I travel there, get killed and have to do the whole travel section again.

Just finished it. Twas alright, kinda like the first, great graphics average gameplay.

Checked the campaign stats and it says 6hrs 13mins for me. Strange cause im sure it was longer than that. I usually play for about an hour each go and it was definitely more.

this game is ok on a whole but reaks of console port and the guys pirating it can even get on mulitplayer with every one else, i even seen someone running it on a nvidia 6000 series gpu at max settings with playable framerates!! no joke
