Anyway, anything other than PoF that's free or relatively cheap? I'm in no rush really, but still like chatting to people. PoF seems to have more or less dried up for the moment. Not many very local people left to talk to for me. Most seem to have multiple kids and are much younger than me. That's the north for you I suppose!

Don't be worrying about the timing of replies and not answering the phone. Online dating is very high risk despite the obvious benefits. Especially for a woman. She might be quite shy and just holding back. Remember she may have met 50 other time wasters and pervs before talking to you. Patience is the absolute key so you don't come across too strong as it just screams sec mad loony!
This is the first time I've dated really. Since 15 I have been in longish relationships I'd just drifted in till 12 months ago. Its easy to get carried away because most people hardly communicate properly then when you get one who you can engage with you just want to keep it rolling.

Yes ok to you she is a "porker" but she is probably still someone who deserves a bit of happiness. She sees a message from someone most likely thinks "yey someone's interested" then it turns out you're just doing it as a laugh.
