During speed dating when I've mentioned I work in IT the most common response is that they're surprised I'm 'normal' and not some fat guy with a beard. So yes, I think there's quite a stigma.
 
I find myself really resenting massaging females ego's by even messaging them in the first place. However, it really seems to be needed. What happened to new-age feminism and equality, still seems the males have to do all the leg work.

Oh and the constant worry of someone that I know finding my profile is annoying.

at the end of the day, internet dating is not what it was.

When people think of internet dating, the first thing that comes to mind is an agency like the one Dellboy used in Only Fools and Horses to meet Raquel.

That episode is over 20 years old and things have changed since then.

Now, internet dating is like facebook, but with the adult stuff that facebook try and remove.

Agreed, everybody's first though when you mention you work in IT is that you must be like moss or roy from the IT crowd. We are in some ways, that we continually tell muppets to turn it on and off again, but thats where the similarities end :p

Two things - not sure how to put ethnicity ? :/ I'm Brit born Indian but consider myself fully integrated and a hell of a lot more English than Indian (and googling seems to suggest using ethnicity of 'Caucasian' isn't wrong for some areas of India, i.e. where my parents were born, and also I probably wouldn't turn up in as many searches..). am I thinking about this to much? :o

Second, I really don't like the idea of sellinng myself, I know how bad that sounds but that's why my profile is so plain atm, I hold a decent job and have visited a few places etc. but as I said a few pages back just reading other peoples profiles that've been posted here, and nearly all mid 20 girl profiles in London you'd think they're all 24/7 ultra career focussed socialites who want a perfect man?! Even googling how to write a good POF profile it looks like the advise is to basically 'dress it up'... isn't this a bit fake though....? I'm just normal damnit! :D

Don't know how you could improve on it, esp with that first date idea. now im craving for an ice cream truck XD

Although, personally, I don't really like dating anymore, it feels too scripted (ie you follow the same generic path from A to Z. I prefer just making friends, it's easier when you tell them your into Dr Who, Star Trek/Wars etc

I didn't think it was that bad to be honest, she's not my type at all but she comes across as realistic, all be it stuck up.

She's very much an.. erm, fake tanned, barbieeske chub meister with champagne pockets and lemonade arms though. ;) :D

To be honest, it was the comment about peanut butter in the first line that cracked me up the most haha

Funniest part is she classes herself as average yet she's obviously a chubster. Usually instead of losing weight they get tons of tattoos and piercings and class themselves as alternative.

Also, is it just me or are most girls either hairdressers/beauticians or school teachers? I smells a conspiracy!
